So is anyone here still a fan of all that weird crap? I used to love Power Rangers back when I was 9, and went off it when they turned into Zeo and ended up totally changing the costumes, theme song and overall look of the show. When I learned that this was because they were having to draw footage from Chouriki Sentai Ouranger (and the previous series had been using Japanese show footage too) I more or less forgave them and began to follow the franchise somewhat... by this time they were just about finished showing SPD in the UK, thus I'd missed a ton of their continuity. That and I can never seem to find it on terrestrial TV anymore, and I sure as hell don't feel like getting more channels purely for one show :P The other reason I like it now is because I, as a linguist, consider the whole idea of using stock footage around reshot scenes with English-speaking actors to be a pretty damned ingenious approach to translating something. Sure, they may lose the odd thing in translation, but how many eight-year-old kids are gonna wanna read "Translator's note: OH JUST LEARN JAPANESE ALREADY!!!" at the top of the screen every two minutes?

At the moment I just search YouTube a lot for episodes of either (though various users seem to keep getting banned for uploading it, including xMrWrestlemaniax who did have every episode of In Space before his account was suspended :( ) and really like seeing the differences that end up appearing between the Japanese series and the American adaptations: If anyone remembers the "Island of Illusion" in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the footage for that episode came from like episode three of the Zyuranger, the Japanese counterpart. And the difference between Megaranger and In Space is just astounding!

Protip: Big Bad Beetleborgs, Masked Rider and VR Troopers were also made by splicing footage from Japanese tokusatsu shows. True story.

If anyone tries to get into some argument about how "Power Rangers is inferior to Sentai" or how "Power Rangers ruin everything by adding Battlizers", I will ask a CK to close this thread. Oh yeah, that and the fact that since you're probably not eight, you're not actually the target audience anyway. Lord knows I'm not.

The Power Rangers were my imaginary friends! Barney and I often fought along side them in imaginary adventures....sometimes I was Rita :P

I had the white ranger's costume, and his sword. And a bunch of figurines. I can't remember when the original series ended, but I watched up until the movie and the white ranger saga.

I used to watch it religiously back when I was 6 or so. Nowadays, not so much. I'm surprised that they're still making it.

There's like eight different kinds of Power Rangers. The original two were great, but the series sunk into miserable depression in my ratings when they started Power Rangers in an Australian Version.

I liked 7 years ago.

There's like eight different kinds of Power Rangers.

It's been running for fifteen years, meaning there's been fifteen different sentai series from which to draw their battle footage. Not counting times when they changed the zords, but not the costumes, there's been thirteen different forms so far I believe.

EDIT: Just seen the fifteen year anniversary teamup. I've not felt this much fanboyish glee since like ever, and the classic Black Ranger's new updated morph sequence was awesome!
