How do you pronounce "Pokémon", anyway?

According to that mark, it's obviously supposed to be pronounced "Pokeemon", but that sounds pretty stupid.
Everyone in my hometown says "Pokkemon", which means it should've been spelt like "Pókemon".

Personally I always say ['pokemon] as well, but the spelling contradicts that. :confused:

The English "Poke-e-mon" would sound a lot like ['pokemon] if a Swedish person were to pronounce it, because Swedish doesn't make use of diphthongs, except for in borrowed words like "automat".

Then it's highly possible that the mark is just there to stress that you should say "Poke-E-mon", rather than "Poke-mon".

In Sweden "poke" would sound like ['poke], and "poké" would sound like [po'ke:].
