Chrono Trigger, that is. :p

I was gonna spend the night with this game, and I've decided to finish the game before tomorrow afternoon.
This makes about 12 hours, possibly 13.
Is this possible, if you're fairly skilled and play efficiently?

No, you can't, it's absolutely impossible. You shouldn't try doing so either, you might damage the cartridge or ROM.

I dunno. If he has it for playstation and knows the game, it may be possible. You would have to play fast though. And miss some good side quests.

No, seriously. It's not possible. It can't be done, so there's no point in even trying.

I just beat it for the first time and got done in 20, all except 1 sidequest. I think if you play the rom at a higher speedrate, speed through the text, and go at lavos early, you might be able to do it, if you especially know what you're doing. just my analysis though, i don't know this game as well as other people on this board.

Of course it's perfectly possible. Chrono Trigger is not in any means a very lengthly game, despite its numerous sidequests; if you do everything that is absolutely necessary in an efficient manner you can do it in even less (http://speeddemosarchive.com/ChronoTrigger.html) than 13 hours. Although obviously, if you have never done a speedrun before it may be difficult, but I don't see why 13 hours is out of the question. Nothing is impossible, go for it!

If anything something like this would already be on Youtube~~~

So you want to finish the game in under 12 hours? Okay!

First, play the whole length of the game, right up to and including the Black Omen and Lavos' various forms. Save the game just as you're about to face LAvos' final two forms.

After you beat Lavos and the credits roll, start the game again, and choose "New Game Plus"...

At the Millenium Fair, run into Marle, and get to Lucca's sideshow. Don't talk to anyone; just run with Marle into the right-hand teleporter, and hit the blue twinkle that should be there.

With Marle acting as your healer, you should be able to beat all three forms of Lavos without breaking a sweat. There, game over in under 5 minutes!! :pinkelephant: :pinkelephant: :pinkelephant:

What, that wasn't what you had in mind? Eh, there's no satisfying some people

There's no speed run faq on Gamefaqs surprisingly, but the proof is in the speed runs Zeromus linked to. If you want to do a proper speed run then start by watching those videos. Even if you don't want to do a speed run, as long as you're familiar with the game, doing it in less than 12 hours would be fairly easy.

Don't listen to these guys. That speedrun is obviously hacked.

You're going to have to come up with some convincing evidence to persuade us to believe a Speed Demo Archives run is hacked.

I think this would be possible even without a speedrun.

Simple, because he can't do it. And if he can't do it, its obviously not possiple. :P

Perhaps you can do it. I don't know, but I think that doing so is criminal. You'd be skipping so much awesome stuff. It's just wrong.

I understand if it was a first run, but what if it was a replay? I've replayed Final Fantasy IV so many times I challenge myself to complete it in under eight hours, and I do (not talknig about dashing either). I challenge someone to complete this game in uder twelve hours without cheating.

There, now a hero will take up this challenge and we'll have an answer

I think there was a youtube video where the player completed it incredibly quickly (5 or so hours?) using A LOT of save states so that Magus cast certain element attacks in the fight etc., but I'm fairly sure that kind of a speed run would be very tedious. I'm guessing it would be possible. Good luck to you, in any case.

Some guy almost completed FF7 in a day (he died though, he probably would've made it), so I think it's possible.

Well, I can say that I'm over leveled and at the beginning of the 6 or 7 side quest things. I could prolly try and go to Lavos now.

Also, my time clocks at 13:54, which doesn't include the 3 times I got lost for ATLEAST thirty minutes each. (hence the over leveling)

I've also never played the game completely through, so seeing as someone with slight inexperience in the game and gameplay could be that close to 12 or 13 hours.. Well basically once I beat it and replay, I could easily do it 12 or under.

I was pretty fast two days ago, because I reached The End of Time when the clock hit 03:00 hours, and this includes getting all the treasure on the way.
Yesterday I repaired the Masamune for Frog and gave it to him in five IRL-hours.
This evening I want to restart the game and do some really serious perfect-game-speed-running, but I won't be able to finish it before I'll have to go to bed, because I work tomorrow. :eep:

I can't even enjoy the game as much as I have time for tonight, because it feels anticlimactic to quit the game when I know I can finish it in one go.
