A user on the Penny Arcade forums has put up scans from the Japanese magazine Shonen Jump, revealing screens and character art for the upcoming DS remakes of Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest V, and Dragon Quest VI.

Dragon Quest IV was previously released in North America as Dragon Warrior IV for the NES in 1992, but the other two have never left Japan. Of course, there's no confirmation that the games will leave Japan this time, but there is a good chance that soon, the rest of the world will finally get to play these lost chapters in the Dragon Quest series.

I think I'll hold off being excited until SE confirms an English localization. They don't have a great track record with releasing DQ remakes outside of Japan.

Importing is the way to go if it doesn't get a English localization being as the DS is region free. Besides, I have a great feeling these will get released in the US

Being region free isn't really the issue for me. The problem is not being able to read Japanese.

Considering we missed out on the original versions of DQV and VI, the Super Famicom remakes of DQI-III, the PSX remake of DQIV and the PS2 remake of DQV, I'm not entirely sure a pessimistic attitude towards these remakes isn't the most logical one.

Wow, this will be awesome if they release them outside of Japan. It'll be nice to be able to play them on the DS instead of having to pull out the NES or Super Famicom.

I would be even more pleased if it's sailing to Europe as well.

Please don't put party on autopilot during the last chapter of DQIV, please, please please...

Nonetheless, I am excited. Hope these recieve an English localization.

On a side-note, if you've ever playing DQIV on the NES with a Game Genie or through *cough* other means that have a Game Genie built in, use the following code to remove the AI control in Chapter 5: YYEXVTGE (Pulled from gamefaqs (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/file/563409/11035)).

They changed that for the PSX remake. I can't imagine they would keep it in this one.

This is great! Good timing after my thread about DQ Remakes too.

It's like every week I find another great reason on why I have a DS.

Oh, well that's good then. I've never played the PS1 version before, so...
