I really wish we got to know a bit more about Freya. She had a unique personality and was possibly the best character in battle, IMO. Who agrees? Yay or Nay?

I never used her. My party was zidane, dagger, steiner, and vivi. Eiko came in when dagger was dead/dying. Steiner was replaced by amarant or Quina. I never got around to messing with freya.

Freya had quite a dark storyline, with tragic things happening. She was very useful later in the game when her Dragon's Crest skill had been powered up. It always does 9999 damage, even if the enemies are protected or Freya is under status ailments. For example, the damage done by Steiner's Shock is greatly reduced when the enemy is using Protect, or when Steiner is under the Mini status. Dragon's Crest doesn't have this issue.

I didn't really think much of Freya, my main party consists of Zidane, Vivi, Dagger and Amarant. I suppose that it would be nice to see Freya's past, I guess that the only really thing they show about Freya's past is Sir Fratly.

What makes you think so? If it was the comment about her being with Sir Fratley, then just for your information, Freya's female, so there's nothing gay with that. :p

I always liked using Freya. And she had an interesting background in FF IX, She was a great character.

i used freya often in my team, dragons crest once powered up does 9999 damage once no matter what, and she has an interesting story, wish it was carried on a little longer.

Freya seems so vain and/or crazy if you name her "Fratley".

Dragon's Crest does rule, though.

Hell yeah i use Freya in battle. about her past, i think we're given just enough, not really that big of a problem. But yeah she's really versatile, you can push her to be more of a red mage or just a straight up dragoon.

If it wasn't for Vivi, she'd be my favorite character. She could be a support character or a main attacker or whatever you want to do with her.

How can she be a Red Mage? She doesn't use magic >_>

When I first saw Freya I thought she was a red mage. I mean, she was wearing red, she had a funky cap with what looked like a feather. I thought that it would be awesome. Then when she turned out to be a dragoon I was like... AWESOME!!!!!!

Anyway, yes I do like Freya. I use her lots in battle and I don't like it in disc two when she leaves because then in disc 3 she is grossly underleveled, just like Steiner. She has great moves, Reis's Wind, Dragon Crest and Jump. I used Jump alot in the Necron battle just so she avoided Grand Cross.
I felt her story could have been done better though it was really good, I would have liked a bit more to it as it has great potential. Oh well, we can always hope for a sequel for a game that deserves one.

I found her rather boring. She had too much good sense and maturity. In battle, she was pretty useful in my earlier days but I don't really use her as of lately

Sadly I always find Freya to be one of the characters that doesn't seem to slot into my squad naturally on disc three onwards, so I generally have to make a conscious decision to include her. Having said that, she's a definitely one of the most worthwhile characters to use in battle due to skills like White Draw and Dragon Crest.

I've always liked Freya the most out of the playable characters because her storyline gave a lot of reasons for Freya to continue on with the quest and to defeat Kuja. Her theme music is awesome and I think she was generally an entertaining character during the first two discs, being sadly neglected on the latter two.

Freya was more of a novelty as a party member than anything else, with all those absurd "When the hell am I gonna need these?" abilities, much like Amarant. That just made them more fun to use.

Frankly, after the whole thing with Fratley forgetting his past, I sorta liked the allusion to, not so much love, but more of a deep mutual respect as honorable soldiers between her and Amarant. Seeing them being forced to work together in the Fire Shrine (and going from "Why must I?" to "Let's rock!" after an insightful speech) was a pretty heartwarming moment, no pun intended.

As with most recent FFs, the main characters who aren't the leading hero and heroine tend to get sorely overlooked by the story. Freya in particular has a lot of history and depth that could've been explored, instead of simply being given a cursory examination. The same's true of Amarant, really, though I prefer Freya.

I agree with what Heath said. Something I'd like to add though is that Freya's choice of a Coral Ring for the prize for the hunt annoyed me. In my younger days when I always tended to be sorely under-leveled at any given stage in the game letting her win always made the first battle with Beatrix incredibly easy. But it isn't in my nature to simply get my self killed instead of trying to win this big competition.

Freya was a really interesting fighter to include in a party and her storyline was too abruptly ended.

Yes. Freya is one of my favourite RPG characters of all time, and the first disc was driven very much so by her storyline (Burmecia, Cleyra, etc.) but then after Cleyra she doesn't receive any more development and I get sad :(

How do you get Dragon Quest to do 9999 it's always in the 2000's and 3000's with me.

I think it's determined by the amount of dragons Freya kills (landing the finishing blow)

She's maybe not the best, but she's definitely one of the top-tiers. My first time playing through the game I didn't really use her at all, but the second and third time around I started to use her quite a lot, and now she's one of my favourites. She has some killer abilities.

I barely ever used Freya the first time or second time I played. I thought she was pretty useless. One time I decided to try and level her up and I was suprised at how good she was in battle~

Yeah, would be cool with some more Freya storyline, wasn't much happening for her outside the Burmecia and Cleyra part. We saw pretty much of her then, though. I also almost never use her in battle, Zidane is a must, then there's Vivi and Steiner who can do the awesome Magic sword together, and the last spot is saved for a white mage. So Quina, Amarant & Freya get left out a lot ;p
