Is there any members here who you think are nothing like they seem or say they are like in real life?

If you're going to be offensive towards anyone in this thread, please don't mention them. Just mention how many members you think try to trick others about themself.

I don't really like anyone who has a forum "personality" that isn't representative of what they're actually like as a person. It's just lame, and not much of a boon to any sort of genuine discussion

Years ago, I was partial to the bad habit of presenting façades to others in lieu of my real personality, as a mean to... well, I don’t know, really. I suppose I was stupid and insecure, and wanted complete control over the way people felt about me (both offline and online). A lot of making up stories and truth contortion and this or that.
Since I was such a fan of inconsistency, when one person’s accounts of me meshed with another’s, there was that kind of steel-against-steel sound of a lie, and I would often end up in very awkward positions! So yeah, since this was a part of me for a while, and it was at its most malicious stage during a time when I was also a member here, than I am (or at least have been) a dishonest member. Whatever. I grew out of it a long time ago, and it is just a small part of a past I’d rather forget.

But who knows? Chances are, I’m lying about this one too.

I don't trust Psychotic in the slightest. But I know for sure that I'm a 24 year old, seven foot chinese guy with an 11 inch wanger. I lost my virginity to your mum when I was 10, and have screwed 409 people since - most of them being other people's mothers.

Also, when I was 13, I went to a ninja training school and become a High Master of Amazingness in 3 weeks, which is better than anyone else has ever done. After turning 21, I ran around the Earth twice in a day, and defeated 15 mafia families. Then I invaded Russia and flew to a planet in another galaxy and gave them secret intel on America. They'll be here on Tuesday to destroy us all.

Totally true, btw.

There are a few members around here I don't feel are anything like they are in the real world, but I don't really care that much for the most part. As for outright dishonesty and trying to be someone they aren't with intention, I don't like those people too much. I'm not talking age/image, though - I've known a few people who lied about their age/image and I didn't really care too much. But when people lie about who they actually are beyond that, it bugs me.

Resha
08-04-2007, 10:54 AM
I reckon I'm better offline than online. Strangely enough. There's something about being able to...type any word you want...that gives you strange, wicked powers. And emoticons. How deceiving they are. My face would never look like :erm: or :Oo: (I would hope)

But to carry on a facade :p too troublesome. So no. The internet me is me and the offline me is also me, maybe I just have many me's or slightly variant me's and I am the same me all the time, I'm not sure.

I think most people at Eoff are more cocky than they'd be in real life, because on the internet they can't get beaten up. A lot of people here are dishonest, but actually believe their own lies. Ask people at Eoff if they think their intelligent, an count the number of people that are clearly dim that think their intelligent. Make a thread at Eoff about fighting, an count the tough guys! Ask them if their witty an funny, an I'm sure that pretty much all of them think they are. Is Eoff made up of highly skilled fighters, an witty, hilarious, intellectuals? Certainly not. Many Eoff members like to pretend they know things they don't too. That's why when you inform them of something well known to a person knowledgeable on the subject, they'll still say do you have a source? as if it's an outlandish claim. I wouldn't say I'm dishonest to myself, but I wouldn't say my internet-self reflects my real self, either. I just talk differently between the two. I probably just have more time to think, or at least feel like I do, when on a web forum, so I just end up speaking differently. Take this message, for example. It took me around 7 minutes to make it. Now read it at normal pace, and it will take around 30 seconds. But if it took me 7 minutes, but speaking at a normal rate ends up with taking away 6:30 minutes, if I were simply saying this to you, would the message really end up being the same?

I don't think I'm that different offline. I'm a lot less talkative offline, unless I'm around people I honestly feel entirely comfortable around. An is a shortened version of and, an it originates from old English. It's a word commonly used in England.

'Tis but the UK.

Only the stupid ones who should be deported. Also, most English people don't say an. Even if we did, we'd put the apostrophe to signify the missing letter. Like 'n'.

I always thought that an apostrophe represented that letters are missing, like a blank in order to replace the real thing. As if you were to take a book, and replace it with an empty journal, and the journal's size would always be the same, no matter how big the book. The emptiness of our world is all represented with an apostrophe.

As you can see above, I'm VERY dishonest for the sake of sounding like I'm from the Matrix, so there's another reason EoFFers, or just internet peoples in general can normally be considered dishonest.

Apostrophes are used to indicate a missing letter so, yes, it is correct to use an apostrophe.

Maybe the ones you know. I know intelligent people, though. Stop generalising everything. You're basing who's intelligent on who does or doesn't say "an" in place of "a" an you don't think that's a
generalisation?!

Apostrophes are used to indicate a missing letter so, yes, it is correct to use an apostrophe. No, it's not. An is not missing a letter. An is a word in it's own right. Argue it with the dictionary:an - definition of an by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/an)

I'm a little different in real life than on here, but it's not really on purpose :P

The way I act in both places is what comes naturally to me.
