Hong Kong is one of China's Special Administrative Regions, or 'SARs'.

I'm sorry if the above sentence is too esoteric. Think PG, asians, and PG spam.

Topic: does your country / city / town / hamlet have any interesting quirks which are retroactively indicative of something in the country / hamlet / village?

Topic2: do you actually live in a hamlet? What is it like?

I live in a hamlet. It's very serene and quiet, but also very boring. I don't think our hamlet has any interesting quirks which are retroactively indicative of the hamlet.

My town was the first place in the world to have an official YMCA building. Or maybe just in England. World/England....same difference.

I live in a town. It's very busy and noisy, but also very boring. I don't think our town has any interesting quirks which are retroactively indicative of the town.

You guys are living in boring places. I suggest you live in Mount Gay, West Virginia.

I wouldn't describe my current state as "living" to be honest. I'm merely occupying this space until someone else comes along. I hate it here and want to leave.

My small town of Tullamore (14,000 people) produces the Irish Whiskey 'Tullamore Dew'!

The city in which I live has the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_Tower">the tallest free-standing building in the southern hemisphere</a>.

My hometown has the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldwin_Street%2C_Dunedin">steepest street in the world</a>.

Hey, I don't even live in a city. My town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Helens%2C_Merseyside) made glass and mined coal. Oh the JOY.

Makes me think of Shakespeare. :) And cigars. :D

They filmed some of The Da Vinci Code in Lincoln Cathedral. It served as a double for St Paul's Cathedral, as they won't let anyone film in there.

A lone nun sat herself outside the cathedral to protest about this filming in sacrosanct territory. Obviously the rest of the convent didn't give a smurf. :p

Also, Tom Hanks ate lobster in my friend's restaurant, which is round the corner from the cathedral.

I live here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryker%2C_Ohio)

A hamlet is a place that's too small to be considered a village. I'm thinking Pulaski (not too far from here) might be considered a hamlet. It's too small to have its census data and stuff recorded on Wikipedia, and as far as I can tell it only consists of one street.

well in like 1910-1930 or something... our town's motto was "Essex: The Florida of Canada... Without the Palm Trees" lol. As you were entering the town, it said that on a huge sign. When I heard about that I was like "how lame..."
