I'm trying to get the key to midgar from bone village.

I'm recently in posession of the highwind, and have yet to enter the junon underwater reactor... at this point in the game, is it possible to get the midgar key, or is it only possible on disc 3?

Thanks in advance.

You have to dig for it in Bone Village.

Yup I know :)
But what I'm asking is, is it possible to do this during disc 2, or do you have to wait until disc 3?

I believe you can do it if the guard at the entrance of Midgar begins wondering where he left the key, then he says that he "might of left it in the excavation site" if he says that, then you're good to go. Remember to dig at the top part of the site, right near the tent (or is that the harp...?)

Thats the harp. But I think the key is still somewhere at the top. Forgot.

This map (http://www.ffuniverse.nu/ff7/b/bone.jpg) might help. I hope the site allows direct links like this, 'cause this map is a pretty good guide, if I remember correctly.

One tip - when you're trying to find the key, don't worry about following the line-of-sight of the various workers. Ignore them, and just dig in the right spot :p

I remember digging where that guy is rummaging at the start and being able to find the key.

What's 'MOP'? Do those letters stand for something, or does it actually mean a mop? :|

There is a Mop that Cid can wield. It's his version of the weapons with no materia slots.

There is a problem for me, when wanting to dig is the key under Lunar Harp, Good Treasure or Normal Treasure?

I'm up to the part when Diamond Weapon is about to attack MIdgar >.< :kauberry::kaodizzy:

The key counts as normal treasure I believe.

it matters not wether you dig for normal or good treasure, I have used both and both times I got the key.

The map tells LIES to me. I found the potion where it says the key is. I'm assuming the key is somewhere up on the higher ground. However, it doesn't matter if I ask them to look for normal or good treasure they always look to this one point on the lower ground that has NO treasure at all there. It is annoying. *sigh*

But after some painstaking experimentation... I did finally find it here:
