Wouldn't it be cool if they released FF7 in movie form, like 20 episodes or something?

Check this out what I've thought of. 20 episodes, each episode roughly an hour long. I'd rather watch any of these than advent children.

Episode 1 – AVALANCHE
Cloud, Barret, and the rest of avalanche are set to blow up mako reactor number 1. The story of Shinra’s reactors is revealed, and it’s also revealed that Cloud is an ex-member of SOLDIER. Avalanche blows up the reactor, and escapes. Cloud briefly meets Aeris. Cloud then gets on the train, and meets back with the rest of AVALANCHE. They then meet back at the sector 7 slums with Tifa. Avalanche start their next mission, to destroy the sector 5 reactor. After doing so, they are attacked by air buster, and Cloud falls during the explosion.

Episode 2 – Don’s Bride
Cloud awakens in a church and meets Aeris once again. They escape Reno, walk through the sector 5 slums, and make it to Aeris’ house. At night, Aeris’ step-mum tells Cloud to continue his journey without Aeris. Cloud has a flashback from his past. After this, Cloud, in the middle of the night makes his way to sector 6, only to find Aeris already there. The pair see Tifa on a chocobo cart. They precede to Wall Market and learn that Tifa has a meeting with Don Corneo. Cloud dresses up as a woman to make it into the mansion. Don Corneo chooses Cloud as his lady for the night. All hell breaks loose when Cloud reveals himself. The team learn that the sector 7 pillar is under attack. Don Corneo hits a switch which causes Cloud, Aeris and Tifa to fall through a trap door.

Episode 3 – Shinra Headquarters
The gang find themselves in the sewers, and have to deal with Don Corneo’s pet, Aps. After the fight, the gang make it to the train graveyard and pass through. They precede to sector 7, where the pillar is under attack. They climb to the top and meet Barret. Aeris is sent to look after Marlene, but is then kidnapped by Tseng, whilst the rest of the team have to deal with Reno. After the fight the pillar is destroyed, whilst the team escape on a rope. Barret mourns for Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie, and hopes Marlene is safe with Aeris. The team decide to go to Shinra HQ to resuce Aeris. They climb up the wall in the Wall Market, with the batteries. They make their way into Shinra HQ and make their way up each floor, with tough fights along the way. On the 66th floor the team spies on Shinra, and learns their latest schemes regarding Aeris’ fate and the promised land, a land believed to be full of high amounts of mako. They then follow Hojo up to the 68th floor, where he is ready to experiment on Aeris and Red XIII. Red is soon revealed to talk, and sides with the team, and attacks Hojo. Hojo then calls reinforcements. The team battles Hojo’s samples, then head off, but are caught by Tseng and Rude. Over night in the cells, the team discover the door is open, with a huge trail of blood leading to President Shinra’s corpse. They learn that Sephiroph did this. Rufus becomes new president, and while Cloud deals with Rufus, the other team members deal with hundred and heli gunner. Cloud fails to finish Rufus off, but the team then meet up for an escape via motorbikes. They defeat Motor Ball, and say goodbye to Midgar. They agree to rendezvous at Kalm.

Episode 4 – The Parade
The team meet up at Kalm and learn the story of Cloud and Sephiroph in Nibelheim. The team then head to Mythril Mine, but cannot cross the marsh because of the Midgar Zolom. Cloud catches a Chocobo. Clous and Barret ride across the marsh on the chocobo, whilst Aeris and Tifa ride on Red XIII. They pass through the mine, and learn from the turks that Sephiroph is heading for Junon Harbour. The team precede, and bump into Yuffie, who, after a fight, agrees to join the team. The team then stops by Fort Condor for some supplies, and a short battle. They then head for Junon harbour where Cloud saves a young girl’s life from a serpent. Cloud then uses Mr Dolphin’s assistance to climb to Junon city. Cloud pretends to be part of Shinra, and takes part in Rufus’ celebration parade. He learns that Sephiroph is heading for the western continent. Cloud gets aboard the Shinra boat, and learns that the rest of the team also snuck on board. They later bump into Sephiroph, who leaves behind a nasty Jenova surprise. The team defeats Jenova birth, and arrives at Costa Del Sol.

Episode 5 – Dyne
After arriving at Costa Del Sol, the team bumps into Hojo, and learns that Sephiroph is heading west. The team travel through Mt Corel, and enter North Corel, where they learn how Barret was blamed for the destruction of the town when he trusted Shinra. The team precede to the gold saucer, where Barret is still in a bad mood. Cloud and Aeris meet Dio, the owner of the theme park, who says that Sephiroph was here not long ago. They then meet Cait Sith, a fortune teller who is obliged to join the team when wanting to know if his fortune will come true. The team soon find many dead bodies in the battle arena, with gun wounds, thinking Barret might have done it. Dio blames the gang, and sends them to the desert prison. The team meet up with Barret, and find out that it wasn’t Barret after all, but it was Dyne, Barret’s old friend, who also has a gun grafted onto his arm. Barret confronts Dyne to apologise about all that happened in the past, but Dyne has given up hope with everything and has gone crazy. Dyne and Barret end up fighting, even though Barret is reluctant. Dyne soon gives up and throws himself off a cliff. The team then take part in a chocobo race in order to get released from the prison. Dio learns that the team was innocent after all, and gives them a buggy as an apology.

Episode 6 – Like Warrior, Like Son
The team stop at Gongaga village, where they bump into Reno, Rude, and Elena. After the fight, Cloud and the rest wonder how the turks knew their whereabouts, thinking their must be a spy amongst them. The team then notice Scarlett trying to steal materia from a wrecked reactor. Scarlett leaves. The team go into the actual village, and learn a bit about a solider named Zack. Aeris reveals that was the name of her first love, whilst Cloud finds the name familiar for some strange reason. The team then head to Cosmo Canyon, where they learn that Red XIII’s real name is Nanaki. It is Nanaki’s hometown, where he announces that his journey ends here. The team meet Bugenhagen, Nanaki’s grandfather, who is full of knowledge in regards to the planet Bugenhagen shows the team his planetarium where the team learns more about the planet’s fate. Nanaki believes his father was a coward, who left his mother to die. So Bugenhagen takes the team to the Gi tribe caves in order to prove Nanaki wrong. Nanaki soon learns the truth, that his father Seto was a warrior after all. Nanaki rejoins the group, and they head off to their next destination in search of Sephiroph.

Episode 7 – The Captain
The team reaches Nibelheim. According to Cloud’s memories, the town should be burnt, but it is strangely just how it was, and the residents are denying it. The team reach Shinra Mansion, where they solve a small puzzle, and come across a fight with a beast. They then gain a basement key, where Vincent lies, a mysterious man that claims Sephiroph is the son of a woman names Lucrecia. The team bump into Sephiroph, who asks about the ‘reunion’. Sephiroph then heads off to Mt Nibel. The team leaves, and Vincent joins them after learning that they may go after Hojo. The team pass through Mt Nibel, and defeat Materia Keeper. The team then reach Rocket Town. They meet a woman named Shera, who shows the team a plane called the tiny bronco. Shera asks the team to speak to the captain, up in the rocket. The team meet the captain, whom they find out is named Cid. Cid tells the team about his shattered dream about not making it into space, but explains that Shinra are coming to the town, so he hopes they will relaunch the space programme. Cid refuses to let the team borrow the tiny bronco. The team then visit Shera again, who tells the team that Cid failed to make it into outer space because of her. Rufus and Palmer arrive at Rocket Town, where Cid learns that he got all excited for nothing, and that they just want to borrow the tiny bronco to find Sephiroph. Palmer tries to steal the tiny bronco, so the team stop him, then fly the tiny bronco out of rocket town, where Cid joins them. They then splash land into the sea. Cid is fed up with Shinra and has given up with the town, so decides to join the team. The team then learn that Sephiroph is heading to the temple of the ancients.

Episode 8 – Materia Girl
When trying to find the temple of the ancients, the team run into Shinra troops, where Yuffie mysteriously vanishes. The team have had their materia stolen, by Yuffie. The team decide to follow her, as they cannot go to the temple of the ancients without the aid of their materia. The team reach Wutai, Yuffie’s hometown, and meet Yuffie’s father Godo. They also come across the turks, who don’t bother the team because they’re on vacation. After failing to get their materia off Yuffie, they are led to Don Corneo. Don has kidnapped Yuffie, and Elena of the turks. The team, including the turks, head off to Wutai mountains to find the Don. They defeat the Don and his new pet Rapps, and rescue Yuffie and Elena. The turks agree not to bother Cloud and the others on this one occasion because they’re on vacation. The team then get their materia back. Before they leave Wutai, Yuffie tells the team she wants to do one more thing, to climb the pagoda of God’s. Yuffie defeats all the gods, including her father. Godo then gives Yuffie the leviathan materia, and the team then leaves in search of the temple of the ancients.

Episode 9 – Temple Of The Ancients
The team find out from a Weapon Seller near Gongaga that he sold a ‘keystone’ to Dio of the gold saucer, and that this keystone opens the temple of the ancients. The team head to the gold saucer, and get the keystone off Dio, but then are trapped there over night as the tram is out of order. Cait Sith luckily has connections, and gets the guys into the ghost hotel. As the team are all together in one place at the same time, Cloud tells the story of what is actually going on. In the middle of the night Aeris asks Cloud for a date. During this, Cloud and Aeris bump into Cait Sith, who steals the keystone and gives it to Tseng of the turks, thus learning that Cait Sith was the spy after all. Regardless of their wishes, Cait Sith is not leaving the team, and uses the hostage of Marlene to make the team let him stay. Luckily though, Cait Sith knows where the temple is, so the team head there. At the temple, the team find a wounded Tseng. They take the keystone off him and place it into the alter, where the team arrive at the temple. After finding their way through a maze, the team see an illusion of Sephiroph attacking Tseng, which must have been what happened earlier. The team eventually bump into Sephiroph, and learn that he’s found the promised land and plans to summon meteor. Sephiroph leaves and the team defeat Red Dragon. The team then learn that the temple itself is the black materia, and will only transform into it if someone stays in the temple, meaning they die. Cait Sith volunteers to sacrifice his stuffed body, but the team must first exit the temple to let Cait Sith in. The exit is locked, and the wall comes alive. The team defeats Demon’s Gate, Cait Sith sacrifices his body, and the temple turns into the black materia. Cait Sith number 2 comes along shortly after. Sephiroph possesses Cloud’s body, where Cloud freaks out and shamefully gives Sephiroph the black materia. Sephiroph leaves.

Episode 10 – Last Of The Ancients
Cloud awakens in Gongaga after having a dream about Aeris going to the sleeping forest on her own to stop Sephiroph. Cloud soon learns that Aeris has gone missing. The team head to the sleeping forest. They dig up the lunar harp from bone village, pass through the forest, and make it to the city of the ancients. Cloud hears voices in the night, and hears Aeris’ voice, presuming she’s in trouble. The team arrive at a crystal-like city, where they find Aeris praying. Sephiroph possesses Cloud, and Cloud tries to kill Aeris. Cloud soon gets a hold of himself. Sephiroph does his own dirty work and stabs Aeris. A white materia falls out of Aeris and sinks to the waters below. Sephiroph flies to the promised land and leaves the team with jenova life to deal with. After defeating jenova life, the team pay their last respects to Aeris. Cloud reveals that he should quit the mission because he’s being possessed too much, but admits that he will carry on because Sephiroph has taken so much away from him, and the rest of the team agree to try and make sure Cloud doesn’t do anything stupid.

Episode 11 – Ice, Cliffs, And Craters
The team are now after Sephiroph more than ever. They pass through the corral valley cave and Icicle Inn. In Icicle Inn, they learn that Professor Gast and Ifalno are Aeris’ real parents. They also learn of a Mr Holzoff who has been missing for years after going to the great glacier, and a snow woman who hates hot springs. The team snowboard down Icicle Inn and end up in the great glacier. Cloud touches a hot spring and comes across the legendary snow woman, whom the team defeat. The team eventually make it to Mr Holzoff’s house, who has been living alone for 20 years. The team rest, and then scale the Gaea cliffs, defeat Schizo, and reach the summit. The team bumps into Sephiroph at Whirlwind maze, who gives them a nasty jenova surprise. The team defeat jenova death. Sephiroph is deep within the crater, but Cloud now has the black materia. He gives it to Barret to look after. The team are given an illusion that resembles Nibelheim, but Cloud is nowhere to be found, and another soldier is there in his place. Sephiroph claims that Cloud was created by Hojo and was a failure so never given a number. Cloud soon freaks out. The shinra execs arrive at the center of the crater. The weapons awake. Barret gets a visit from Tifa who tells him to bring the black materia to the center. But it was actually Sephiroph all along, not Tifa. Barret gives the black materia to Cloud. Cloud then gets possessed by Sephiroph, and hands the black materia over. All hell breaks loose and the weapons are awakend. The rest of the team escapes with Shinra on an airship, whilst Cloud is still in the center.

Episode 12 – The Search For Cloud
Tifa awakens in Junon, where she learns from Barret that meteor has been summoned. She also learns that Cloud has been missing for weeks. Rufus is planning to destroy WEAPON whilst Barret and Tifa are to be publicly executed. Barret and Tifa are led to a gas chamber. Tifa gets strapped in, but the guard drops his key. Tifa gets locked in, with Barret outside. Cait Sith reveals himself and frees Barret who is tied up. The two go to the gas chamber but can’t open the door. Barret and Cait Sith then run to the airport for plan B, and bump into Yuffie who was disguising herself as a reporter. Meanwhile, Tifa gets hold of the key, and frees herself from the chair she was strapped in, and turns off the gas. However, she can’t open the door, but a weapon attacks and blasts a hole into the building, which Tifa climbs out of. Tifa walks to the end of the cannon, where she has a cat fight with Scarlett. Barret calls Tifa from the sky. The team have a new vehicle, the highwind. Barret drops a rope for Tifa to climb up. The team escape in the new airship which Cid now calls his own. The team’s next mission is to find out what happened to Cloud. They fly to Icicle Inn and find out that there is a good doctor in Mideel Island in the south. The team head to Mideel, where they find Cloud. However, he is in a rough state and has been exposed to a huge amount of mako, and according to the doctor, it’s a miracle he’s actually alive. Tifa stays with Cloud until he gets better, whilst the rest of the team return to highwind. The team then contemplate what they’re going to do next. Cid is assigned the new leader. Cait Sith shares some information that shinra is collecting huge materia for their super weapon. They’ve already raided the Nibelheim reactor, and are preparing to collect from the Corel and Fort Condor reactors. The team head to North Corel.

Episode 13 – Trains And Battlefields
The gang make it to North Corel, where they find that Shinra has the huge materia but leaves in a train. Cid drives another train and chases after it. After successfully defeating the enemy train, getting the huge materia, and saving North Corel, the town rewards the team with the ultima materia, and also forgives Barret for the past. Next, the team head for Fort Condor to get the next of the huge materia. The team assign troops, and defeat the enemy. The huge Condor then dies and an egg hatches where a baby Condor comes out. The team receives the huge materia from an old man in the fort, realising that they were not protecting the huge materia at all, but the condors. With the next of the huge materia in their hands, the team have no time to argue, and decide to go and visit Cloud and Tifa in mideel.

Episode 14 – Cloud Finds Himself
The team visits Cloud in mideel, but unfortunately there’s no improvement. The ground then begins to rumble, and the team find themselves in a fight with Ultimate Weapon, who then flies off. Following this is a huge earthquake of lifestream, destroying mideel. Cloud and Tifa fall into the lifestream. Tifa awakens and is in a surreal world with many different Clouds, where she learns about who Cloud really is. It is eventually revealed that Cloud was just an average Shinra member that never made it into solider, and that his friend Zack did. Cloud was using Zack’s story as his own, and it became a strong illusion. Cloud explains this to the rest of the team after returning to the highwind. The team decide to get themselves together and return to their mission. Cloud then sits down for a while and has a flashback, explaining the death of Zack. (This is the same as what we see in the special cinema bit of the shinra mansion). After this, the team decide to head for the underwater reactor in junon, where shinra is trying to gather more huge materia.

Episode 15 – From The Ocean To The Stars
The team head to the underwater reactor in Junon. They arrive a little too late. Shinra has the huge materia, but they haven’t loaded it onto the submarine yet. The gang run to the submarine bay where they bump into Reno who leaves the team with carry armour to defeat. After the fight, the submarine gets away. The team then hijacks the other enemy sub and chases the sub with the huge materia. Cloud pilots the sub, and destroys the sub with the huge materia. However, the team leave the huge materia for the time being as they learn that Shinra is about to ship out another huge materia at Junon airport, so they must hurry. The team arrive at the airport and lean that the huge materia is being shipped to rocket town. At rocket town, the team find Shinra busy on the rocket and preparing for launch. The team have a short fight with Rude, then get on the rocket. The team learns that the rocket will launch and this seems to change Cid’s mind about Shinra’s plans to blow up meteor. Cid decides to pilot, but Palmer has already set it to auto-pilot so it takes off anyway. Cid quickly comes to his senses and tells Cloud where the huge materia is. Cloud gets hold of the huge materia, and the gang head for the escape pod. An oxygen tank blows up, and Shera saves Cid’s life. Cid forgives Shera for everything that happened in the past. The guys escape in the pod. The team witnesses a collision between the rocket and meteor. However, meteor pulls itself together again. Back in the highwind, the guys are at loss, and agree to visit Bugenhagen in Cosmo Canyon to discuss things.

Episode 16 – The Ancient Key
After reaching Cosmo Canyon, the team stores the huge materia in Bugenhagen’s machine. Bugenhagen suggests that they all go to the city of the ancients. When they reach the city, Bugenhagen explains the use of Holy. The team learn that Holy is the only thing that can stop meteor. Bugenhagen also finds clues to an ancient key. The team must find this key, and they search the planet. They then decide to search underwater. Whilst in the ocean, the team finds the submarine they destroyed earlier, and recovers the last of the huge materia. The team then comes across a crashed gelnika and after a short encounter and fight with the turks, the team picks up some supplies. The team then continue their search, and come across a cave which Vincent meets up with Lucrecia, and then a story of Vincent’s past is revealed. After the story, the team once again continue their search, this time successful, when they eventually find the key. Back at the city of the ancients they place the key in the music box and learn that Aeris has already prayed for holy. The team realise that Aeris has left them with great hope. However, Holy will not take action until Sephiroph is destroyed. Cloud thanks Aeris and tells her “we’ll do the rest”.

Episode 17 – The Return To Midgar
As the team leaves the city of the ancients, Cait Sith reports that the junon cannon (which mysteriously vanished earlier) has been attached to the mako reactors at midgar, and Shinra plan to use it to destroy Sephiroph. As the team hop in the highwind, the ground starts to quake. Diamond weapon is heading for midgar. The team fights the weapon. After the fight, the weapon is still alive. The Shinra cannon cuts straight through the weapon and destroys Sephiroph’s barrier. The Weapon fires on Midgar, and kills Rufus. Back in the highwind, Cait Sith alerts the team that Hojo has taken over the cannon and is preparing to fire a second shot at the crater. It is soon revealed that Cait Sith is actually Reeve. The team parachute into Midgar. They travel through many dangerous tunnels before they engage in their final fight with Reno, Rude, and Elena, whom they defeat. The team then come across Heidegger and Scarlett’s new machine, Proud Clod, which they destroy. The team then heads for Hojo. It is revealed that Hojo is Sephiroph’s father. The team fight, and defeat Hojo. With Shinra defeated, the team now must take on Sephiroph. Back in the highwind, Cloud sends everyone away to decide what they’re fighting for, and return if they want. The next day everyone returns, revealing that they cannot just leave after the hope Aeris has given the planet. The team sets out to destroy Sephiroph.

Episode 18 – Chocobo Breeding
Before taking on Sephiroph, the team decides to acquire the knights of the round materia, so breed a gold chocobo in order to reach the cave. This episode includes chocobo catching, chocobo racing, chocobo sage, and riding the chocobos.

Episode 19 – Defeating The Weapons
After gaining knights of the round, the team is now fully prepared to take on Sephiroph. However, they crash into ultimate weapon. After defeating ultimate weapon, it explodes, and the team gain access to an ancient forest where they pick up some supplies. They then return to Cosmo Canyon where Nanaki says his last goodbyes to Bugenhagen. Back in the highwind, the team crashes into ruby weapon, who, after a long exhausting fight, they defeat. Just when they thought it was all over, emerald weapon emerges from the sea, then goes back underwater again, so the team decide to take the submarine underwater to defeat the weapon before it causes any more trouble. After defeating this third and final weapon, there is now nothing else to stop the team from taking on Sephiroph.

Episode 20 – The Final Confrontation
The team enter the crater to finally take on Sephiroph. They battle Jenova Synthesis, Bizarro Sephiroph, and Safer Sephiroph. The climax and game’s ending follows.

So basically, you want to see the whole of the game in movie form with no changes? That's just really, really boring.

Hey, you remember the Shenmue film? The one where they showed all the game's cutscenes with certain necessary gameplay parts being done by expert players? The one that they actually released in theatres in Japan?! And that came as an extra with Shenmue II for the XBox? You do? So do I! It sucked!!

What you've written up there definitely sounds like a bunch of Anime flicks. No one in their right mind would ever make that many films based on a single story. Damn.

There are definitely more than a thousand moments that don't need to be include in the damn movie. Corneo is one of those moments.

I once started writing a movie script for FF7. I was only 2 1/2 pages in when I got through the 7th Heaven bit and got bored. Maybe I'll try again.

Sorry to get off subject a little, but this is exactly the same situation with Hary Potter fans with the books vs. movies. They want every little detail in with apsolutly no consideration whatsoever for the fact that a) it would be boring, and b) general movie goers would find it boring.

i'm gonna side with Jarvio on this one and say that i think it wouldn't be so bad. I think it should be anime like u guys suggested, but i think it would be interesting to see it from a different angle. though integrating the random battles might be a bit of a challenge?

Well I wouldn't find it boring. That's just like saying you wouldn't play the game again, because it would be boring.

LOL @ Episode 18.

If you cut out the boss battles (it's a goddamn movie, we don't need to see Cloud and co. hack away at every enemy you face until they run out of HP) and actually put some effort in and change the story so that it fits the episode style, I may begin to consider perhaps admitting it might be worthwhile.

Well I wouldn't find it boring. That's just like saying you wouldn't play the game again, because it would be boring.

You're actually playing the game, getting involved and combine that with unraveling the story, then it isn't so bad but here, you're just watching it with only the story, which loses it's excitment over time. The fillers would be awful also.

This would be boring to watch, it's better to just play it than viewing another AC, plus the "series" would only really be an FMV with voice actors.

Something which would be great for VII, would obviously be a remake on the PS3, now that would be entertaining, and probably the best game in history if they do it right.

j/k

Jarvio, seems like alot of people hated on your idea, but I have to say Bravo, I think you divided it up really well and I could absolutely see this as a 20-part 1-hour anime series on HBO.

I don't see any reason on why this would be boring other than if the director failed to make it exciting. There's some filmmakers out there who can take utter crap and make it into effective cinema, and FFVII is an easy enough concept to build on.

My only suggestion is that you change the title of one of the episodes.

From Episode 11 - Ice, Cliffs, And Craters to:
