Ripping off FL ftw.

Anyway, in my vote, none. No villain could use the Crystal to lure him out of his impervious form...

PS- PuPu this title specifically says BEAT so the villain sitting there doing nothing doesn't count because Stalemating isn't winning!

Without the crystal, Zeromus beaten? No. He'd Meteor his enemy to death with 9999 damage while the villains' attacks keep missing. XD

Except for Cloud of Darkness. She's invincible as well so they would just forever keep hitting each other until they realize they are after the same thing (=destroy all) and decide to work together.

He would be an immortal punch-bag to the most powerful villains.

Correction an immortal punching bag that throws meteors back everytime you touch it :P

I'm not really into this kind of thread, but for the record-- don't forget to discount the superior power of manipulation that many villains have. It's not uncommon to play an RPG two thirds of the way through and find out you were doing the bad guy a favor the whole time. Whether it was getting the black materia for sephiroth, collecting the crystals for golbez, or whatever else, it has been done in the FF world. So it's entirely possible that a smart villain could manipulate a "man of light" into using the crystal on Zeromus and then finish him off from there. In his physical form, Zero would really be easy pickings for someone like Kefka, Kuja, or to give the devil his due, even sephiroth. So yes, most or any villian could indeed kill off Zeromus.

,,, makes a good point, but "beat" implies defeating with force, so I'll say nobody could. Every fight would end up as a win for 0mus or a stalemate.

Zeromus never attacked until Golbez and FuSoYa used Meteor on him, and until after Golbez tried to use the Crystal. Which is also why when you face Zeromus with your party, he does nothing until Cecil uses the Crystal and turns him into his second form. So here are the only two things that I think would trigger Zeromus to attack.

1. Casting Meteor. Golbez and FuSoYa both did this against Zeromus.
2. Attempting to use the Crystal and failing. Golbez did this, and Zeromus attacked shortly after.

I don't think any villain would use the Black Magic spell Meteor, or try to use the Crystal, so they would use their own special abilities, such as Giga Graviton, Light of Judgement, etc. Zeromus would null all the damage, but he wouldn't necessarily be able to deal any damage of his own. He would have to go into his second form in order to relentlessly attack. And in his second form, I think many villains would have a good chance of beating him.

But I think that Kefka might be able to beat him. Before anybody starts calling me a Kefka fanboy, I just want to explain why I think this way. The reason Cecil was able to use the Crystal was because and I quote from FFIV "the Holy power within" himself. I think it means Holy magic within Cecil, since he is a Paladin and Paladins are usually one of the most powerful types of warriors with Holy magic. Since FFVI says that Kefka absorbed all magic in the world from the Statues, he should theoretically have control over this Holy magic which is required to use the Crystal. Though this is just an educated guess, which is why I use the word "might" instead of "can."

I'm pretty sure the "Holy Power" refers to his divine purity, which Kefka definitely doesn't have.

Also I think Zeromus's form can attack, they just didn't want to have you instantly die and get all confused :O

I'm going with Zeromus. If you take his spells literally, big bang and black hole are cosmic proportion spells. Then again, x-death "breaks the laws of physics", but ill throw my money on zeromus, especially against the other villians

how do we know that E.G kujas ultima blasts or kefkas light of judgement, vegnaguns cannon, sins huge power, wouldn't affect zeromus?

were talking about a real fight here, not just battle mechanics. none of the heroes in FF4 have such powerful attacks ( I assume) and the other villains have never been put to the test.

but how powerful the FF4 heroes really would be outside of battle mechanics is vague.

judging by the damage of meteor dropping from 9999 to 1000 when the crystal is used, that means, without the crystal being used, zeromus is at least 10 times more powerful in his prefered form. but because of the damage limit he could in theory be 100,000 times more powerful. but thats only an educated guess from battle mechanics.

I'm not saying that other villains could beat him but i dont think we can be certain that absolutely everything is ineffective against zeromus.

I think you got the wrong game. You throw money on X-Death. There's no $Toss in Final Fantasy IV. -Da da ding-

I'd say that Kefka, who was essentially a God in WoR, would stand a fighting chance to beat Zeromus. The amount of power given to Kefka by the statues is supposed to be equal to all the magic in the world, which is pretty immense and think could potentially wipe out Zeromus. Sadly, anything stated is only speculation though.
