I've recent ran 3dMark06 on my PC and was positively disappointed. While I was in the upper 95% of similar systems, I was in the lower 10~15% of all tested computers. That being said, I'm happy to hear that my drivers are up to date and that the system is running smoothly, but a little bit disappointed that a mid-range, one-year-old notebook has cut out so badly. Funnily enough, a friend of mine who's working on a model higher and 32-bit running Vista has got only a half of my points.

My score's 904. Anybody got less?

Below is the link to the demo:

Someone please correct the typo in the title.:)

I'll run it at home, but expect mine to be just as bad. I have a boatload of ram and a 512 meg vid card, but it's a radeon 9800, I think. =\

I just don't know what counts as a gaming pc.

Ooooh! I didn't even expect an answer to this one. Hmm... I think it'd actually make more sense to move this into the Gaming section.

I've got 512 meg graphics on hyper-memory, but meh, it fails when it comes to dynamic lightning miserably.

Nerdiest PC would have to be running Linux. :p

As for gaming. Well this is what I have:

Core 2 Duo 2.13GHZ
nVidia 7800GS
2GB DDR RAM
21" widrescreen
450w PSU

Most people seem to like to waste their money on the best though, such as SLI 2x 8800GTX (I think they have 768MB RAM), 64-bit OS with 4GB+ (I remember seeing someone who had 16GB, just for games which is the biggest waste of money) RAM and quad-core. I mean, that's great I guess, but I can run any new games with my system as long as it stays DX9 (Bioshock, full settings, 1600x1050 runs perfect, for instance). Once everything goes to DX10 or DX10.1 then the cards will be cheap.

Anyways, that's just my guess. I've kind of fallen out of the loop on hardware. I'd rather have a workstation rig set up for 3D and design work.

I run 8 different distributions of Linux over 2 PCs. :p

I have a 512MB 7950GT, but I also have a 3200+ CPU, so my graphics performance is seriously bottlenecked by the CPU.

Talking about poor results?:) That's still almost double of my score (http://service.futuremark.com/orb/resultanalyzer.jsp?projectType=14&projectId=2656253).:p

I'd love to see you cut into this Omecle (not sure if o_O has Windows to actually run the bench:D).

That's about as useful as my MS-DOS floppy, considering the fact that my laptop only has an optical DVD-Drive.

Does anybody know what the point of this test is? I mean, let's say I saved money and bought the same parts as the person who has the best score -- now what?

I guess the industry has some constructive use for it, but otherways it's just interesting to see who's configuration scores more. *shrug*

Same as with any Benchmark.

=/ I have a decent NVidia gfx card and a pretty decent, but not fantastic processor. Running Linux. I did a quick search, and apparently my gfx card alone gets like 800 points on that test, so coupled with the other stuff, it's bound to be about a thousand.

Linux 2.6.20-16-generic - CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU T2250 @ 1.73GHz Memory: 793/1010 mb used - Swap: 32/2957 mb used - Video: nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 110M / GeForce Go 7300 (rev a1) - X.Org: 7.2.0 @ 1280x800 pixels

Not that nerdy, it is a laptop though. I can run PSX emulators and still use fancy compiz-fusion desktop effects *spins*

I've seen a World War II nazi computing station running the Beta version of Windows 3.1. No wonder they've lost the war.
