I've heard about a couple of programs that automatically download updates for your drivers. Does anybody know/use any good ones?

An awful one is Windows Update :p Seriously though, most manufacturers have ones on their website.

I know, but there are programs that check and download them for you. Updating display/sound drivers is just such a pain in the arse.

Why is it a pain in the arse? All you have to do is download the driver and install it. :p

You don't want to mess around with automatic updates anyway. It's a bad idea to let a machine decide that your working computer needs fixing. If you really must, then try PC Pitstop. It has a driver scan that can tell you if your drivers are out of dat.

Thanks! That's what I needed.

The problem is that new games often require the newest video and audio drivers. Surfing through the webpages of the ("very well structured") manufacturers and checking if you've got the newest one or not, is not fun.

What if you get a faulty driver?

You run the back-up of the old one.:)

Qindows Rollback feature :p

Or of course just switch to Linux?

I think it's better if you do it manually .

I honestly would switch to Linux if I could run games on it.:D

You can run games on Linux. I got Oblivion working almost perfectly with WINE, and there are a whole heap of games you can get running with Cedega. :p

Or you could dual boot like any sane person.

Well, that is a superior option.

Meh, I think MS really got me now. I seriously have doubts that I'll voluntarily switch to another OS. I'll be missing to many of my favourite programs.
