View Full Version : GRRRR! I got an IP ban from the school network!

Ok, so last night I was online and all of a sudden the internet stops working. Well, I tried and tried to fix it and my computer was the only one not working. So, I took my laptop up to the computer maintanence and they looked and told me that I got an IP ban for using Limewire. That is crazy, I didn't think they could do that. It makes me mad.

Your school contract should say that any activity that will negatively affect the stability of the network is not allowed. I know this because almost 10 years ago when I was in college I had the same contract.

You bastard, I was going to say that! I wouldn't dare use Limewire or similar software on a school/college computer network unless it was in my room at university or something. Hell, I'm wary about even accessing YouTube as I don't really wanna be dismissed.

It's probably futile, since most likely it's a MAC address ban to his NIC. Or they shut off his port. I think here you might be able to attend a judicial meeting with the network staff and do some sort of community service junk to get it reactivated. You should probably check with them and see about that.
