After reading Peter's topic on the Japanese language, it made me wonder how hard it is to learn. My question is: What is the best way to learn Japanese, and which form should I learn first (katakana, kanji, etc.)?

You should learn from a teacher, that would be the most effective way to go about learning a new language. I don't know which you should learn, I would say all of them.
