You just ought to love sneakers and now whilst waiting for Assassin's Creed to come out, let's vote for the best sneaking game ever!

The Thief series got me into sneakers, and in my opinion it's still pretty definitive of how to do one.

Hitman. The earlier ones are good; Blood Money is fantastic. Beats the crap out of every other sneaking game I've played.

No Tenchu on the list? Tenchu came before even the original MGS. And it was awesome.

MGS because I'm a story whore and it allows you to gun-blaze if you really feel like it. And I enjoy violence and whoring more than anything.

I hate sneaking, so that's why I like MGS, 'cause you could fight back really well if discovered.

Tenchu should be on there, though.

My vote goes for MGS cause I love it's political intrigue and the fact it doesn't take itself too serious.

My next favorite is Sly Cooper cause it's way more involving than people give it credit for. It's humor is awsome.:)

Despite the great story-telling, all three save MGS. Probably Thief 2X (the unofficial one) would be my nr. 1.

I voted MGS.
Because you can rip in, guns blazing if you want.

Tenchu is the only sneaker I think I've ever really played, which is a shame, because I enjoyed it quite a bit. I like the concept of sneakers. I'll definitely have to give MGS a try.

Beyond Good and Evil is a decent sneaker, but not on the level of Metal Gear.

Metal Gear Solid takes the prize. That series is just so awesome.

MGS, and Hitman imho. Two completely different types of stealth game, both l33t.

MGS. The amount of variety in it puts the others to shame (though in fairness, I've never played a thief game). It isn't even just a choice between killing the guards or just sneaking past in MGS. There are more ways to play a given situation than in almost any other series out there.

The older-generation Tenchu games are worth mentioning. Tenchu 2 was one of my fav games on the ps1. The newer tenchu games (3 and onward) all seem to be awful though...

Anyway, voted for mgs and that other game I just mentioned.

I have to say one of the best aspects of 3 is how by the end of the game, realizing just how much you've developed as a player. Still, my comment stands that it's the only one on the list that I've played.

Although now that people mention it, I did play tenchu and remember it being very good too. But it's not MGS.

Hmmm... now that I think of it, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was fun when it came to sneaking too. Though the enemies were a little bit stupid at times, e.g. someone bashes the head of the person standing to your left with a sledgehammer and you do not notice it because you were tying your laces?
