i worked fairly hard to get this class by about the start of chapter two, and i immediately regretted it...i dont understand its purpose  I mean, he can equip any weapon in the game, but so what? he's weak, and doesn't get EXP or JP in battle, am i missing something?! please let me know if there is some hidden benefit, but i highly doubt it, seeing as he didnt recieve EXP for levelling up

From what I know, your Onion Knight gets abilities from jobs that have been mastered before he/she became an Onion Knight

I know there's certain equipment for Onion Knights only, that it is so awesome, that you'll have an Onion Knight ranked on the toughtest of your Units.

The exclusive equipment for the Onion Knight is:

The Onion Sword
The Onion Shield
The Onion Helm
The Onion Armor

And an accesory.

I heard the equipment is incredibly powerful. I'll look for the stats of them and post them.

Here's what I found:

Onion Sword – WP50 WE 15

Onion Shield – PE80 ME75

Onion Helm – HP200

Onion Armor: - HP250; always: Reraise, Regen, Protect, Shell

The accesory is a glove, it prevents: Dead, Undead, Petrify, Invite, Darkness, Confusion, Silence, Blood Suck, Berserk, Frog, Poison, Slow, Stop, Charm, Sleep, Don't Move, Don't Act, Death Sentence.

BUT, Onion Knights can't equip their unique equipment before Job Level 8. And you can only get level up the job of the Onion Knight by one, by mastering two classes except Squire, Chemist, Mime and Dark Knight.

You see, the Onion Knight OWNS.

ugh, he WOULD, but it takes so long to master classes -_- but i reckon it'll be worth it =D

EDIT: Did you happen to find out when and where you get his items?

It owns because it's named after a freakin' Onion, dammnit! :D
Could you imagine a "Pepper Priest" or a "Carrot Knight"?

And....nope. I don't know where do you get it. Sorry. =/

haha, alright, alright, enough with the fruit and veg (or possibly berries :o, like a banana, a banana is a freakin berry, i was all like wtf?!).
now, you level him up by mastering jobs, but i still have a few questions:
1. does that mean learning all the moves AND getting to level 8 or just the former?
2. How does that work? like, 1 level for every 2 masters or what?
3. I read somewhere that mastering squire and chemist doesn't count...is this true?

I 'm reallly not sure myself, but for question 1, I'm assuming it's the former. But I could be wrong

You need to master two jobs in order to raise the Onion Knight's Job level by one.
Squire and chemist can't be used to level up the job, thought. It's true.

So, if you have an Onion Knight Lv 1, and then Master the Knight and Geomancer Job, you raise it's level by one, and now it's Lv.2

Hope it helps.

1. does that mean learning all the moves AND getting to level 8 or just the former?

Well, I assume that you just master the job by learning the moves, and reaching level 8 isn't that necessary as a condition for leveling the Onion Knight's job level... althought you reach lv. 8 before you master the job in most of the cases. ;)

LOL does Mime count, you are considered to master that as soon as you get the job ^^

Siegfried:

Good question. I looked for an answer, and it also seems that both Mime and Dark knight don't count for leveling the Onion Knight's Job Level.

So, Squire, Chemist, Mime, and Dark knight will not raise the Onion Knight's job level if you master them.

I really dont plan on doing either of these...however...i really hope they dont change some of the battles by adding these guys as some of the enemies

That reminds me. Is there any weapons/armor that you can only get through cooperative play?
