Is your brain what?

Click this link. (http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,22535838-5012895,00.html)

I think this is really cool and I hope you, my cyberpals, will as well. I usually see it going clockwise (although sometimes when I look it's anti-clockwise), but I can change between the two if I try hard enough.

Hi, "DK", I made a thread.

Saw this on /b/ a while back

She was turning clockwise when I first looked, but when I finished reading what it said, she was turning anti-clockwise and I can't get her to change back! :mad2:

She's going clockwise for me. She won't switch either. My brains broked.

The easiest way I found to make her switch was to concentrate on the shadow of her foot.

Maxico

I saw a nipple.
BAN THIS FILTH!

Clockwise untill I took the time to work out what was going on and make it look like it was anticlockwise.
I'm a little skeptical of the reasoning behind it but its a nice illusion.

I see nipple. What does that mean?

Psychotic
10-09-2007, 10:08 PM
I don't know what kind of freaky nipples you two have, but I do not ever want to see topless pics of either of you.

I can make her switch! How fun.

I had to close it otherwise I'd be doing it all night. :jess:

Miriel

Ok, I'm trying really really hard, but I can't make her go anyway other than clockwise. :(

Edit: Omg, this is really frustrating me, how do I get her to switch? It doesn't even seem possible to me.

I can't make her go counter clockwise for the life of me! what a bitch.

Serious! And Psycho is a bitch for posting this. :mad2:

Arrgh. FRUSTRATION!

Jess
10-09-2007, 10:17 PM
I found if I stared towards the bottom left for sometime then she went clockwise and if I started towards the bottom right then she started going anti-clockwise. Or it might have been the other way round. Who knows! :jess:

The easiest way I found to make her switch was to concentrate on the shadow of her foot. When her foot-shadow is lengthways, move your eyes across it, and then get into a back-and-forth rhythm. Took me a few minutes before I could do it too!

Agent Proto
10-09-2007, 10:24 PM
Heh, I'm able to change the dancer from clockwise to counter and back to clockwise. As Psy said, just focus and concentrate on the foot's shadow. It took me a couple minutes to go from one way to the other, and then it took me another couple to go back. It's frustrating.

Implied subpixel detail. :rolleyes2

When she's front on, she can either be facing or facing away from the camera, depending on which one you see it as, she will turn left or right.

10-09-2007, 10:45 PM
I can get it to change but this is actually a broken experiment. The dancer should be going clockwise. You can get the orientation correct by looking at the toes. That would have to be one messed up person to be going anti-clockwise XD

At first I saw her going clockwise. When I changed tabs, she was turning the other direction, and I went WTF. Then I did what Psychotic suggested, and looked at her shadow, and BAM instant reversal. It's fairly hard to turn her clockwise again, though.

I made her change instantly. It's pretty cool.

Oh, and there is totally a silhouette of a nipple in there. It's plain to see.

Yeah it was anti-clockwise for me, so left I guess -

But though I find myself very logical, I also find that I'm even more creative, so personally I would say right.

I think that this test may not be very accurate because as the article says, most will see the model dance in an anti-clockwise direction, but how does that automatically = intense logic?

10-10-2007, 12:20 AM
I saw her clockwise because I read the whole post before clicking the link, and I was like...of course it's clockwise o.O

I tried turning her the other way but I couldn't until I waved my finger around in front of the image counter-clockwise :p

I then turned her clockwise again, but now I can't get her back DX

Ramza Beoulve
10-10-2007, 12:24 AM
At first view, I saw her clockwise, but after three or four turns, I saw her anti. After that, I saw her go anti and clockwise every turn.

Someone's gonna pay for this :).

Heath
10-10-2007, 12:25 AM
Originally it was clockwise and I couldn't get her to change, though like Paul said if you focus on the shadow of her foot for a while then it does. I sorta stopped focusing on it for a bit and then refocused my vision and found her going anti-clockwise.

Miriel
10-10-2007, 12:36 AM
Oh my god. I crossed my eyes and it worked! Yaaaaaaaaaay!

10-10-2007, 01:14 AM
Hahahahahahaha! Holy crap, it made me giggly when she started going the other way! I started laughing and she immediately started going counter-clockwise again. :Oo:

So weird.

10-10-2007, 01:21 AM
Oh, that's cool!! First I see her going clockwise and then I look at the text on the left and the next moment she's going counter-clockwise. But now I can't get her to go clockwise again. :(

DK
10-10-2007, 01:29 AM
I made her switch by right clicking and viewing image, and then hitting back and forward buttons on my browser. She just did it as she felt like. :}

10-10-2007, 01:46 AM
It was clockwise when I first looked, then I saw the shadow and now it wont stop turning counter clockwise :/

[edit] Nvm, when I stared at her boobies it turned back to clockwise.

10-10-2007, 01:51 AM
SPIFFY :3

I saw her clockwise first ^^ Seems like most people do. Yeah that test is screwy, it says most people should see anti-clockwise.

I did get it to switch for a while though! :</>D Then it switched back to clockwise and I got bored so I closed it. *head explodes*

blackmage_nuke

And then i had 2 images of her going at once in different directions

My dad got on to me because he said it could only go one way.

I must say that, for a stylized black and white model, that dancer has it going on!

You hardly need to read the instructions for this one, fool. :D

I make her dance. One turn clockwise, switch, and switch again. She's my bitch.

At first she was counter-clockwise, then with minimal effort she went clockwise, then with slight effort she went back to counter, then with minimal effort back to clockwise.

I can change her direction with relative ease.

Just concentrate on her shadow.

abrojtm
10-10-2007, 08:24 PM
If I try hard, I can get her to move clockwise, but I am definitely left-brain oriented.

scrumpleberry
10-10-2007, 08:25 PM
Clockwise.

That fits, left handedness is meant to be associated with the right.

Ah. Wait.

This can't be a trick of the eye!! (Or brain for that matter!!) The leg that this naked lady is balancing on actually changes - and not because you "will it to" or "focus" on the picture - but because that is what the animation actually does! It's pretty obvious!! When balancing on her left leg she turns clockwise and when balanced on her right one, she turns anti-clockwise.. It's impossible for us to be in control of which leg is the pivitol one!! Watch carefully and you're sure to see the sneaky change!! (The alternative is that i have way too much time up my sleeve to analyse this - and i'm totally dillusional!)

She's got it.

edit: well, it doesn't seem like she's changing now, but before she definitely did.

edit again: yes, she definitely changes. I think it's random.

rubah
10-11-2007, 04:41 AM
That... is crazy. Just... CRAZY!!!! How does that work???

since it's a silhouette, you don't have the information necessary to determine which way she is actually spinning. The way that she bounces up and down further goes to mask it. So your brain has to fill in the body features for itself (ie: 'her left leg is in front of her right leg' or 'her right leg is in front of her left leg')

kinda related is something we did in physics a week or so ago 'a conservative reaction can be taped and played backwards and will look exactly the same' xD

Counter clockwise for me

Kirobaito
10-11-2007, 07:11 AM
When it first started, counter-clockwise. It went back and forth for awhile, and eventually I was able to change it when I wanted to. I just focused on switching which leg was in front whenever the legs were together. It's not that hard.

scrumpleberry
10-11-2007, 05:12 PM
Guys, she does switch the leg she's balancing on. You have to watch for aaaages, but she does definitely switch. I've checked twice. The picture just flips round by itself.

demondude
10-11-2007, 05:17 PM
scrumpleberry is right I just had a look and the dancer just flips randomly.

Levian
10-11-2007, 05:50 PM
Nah, there has to be some illusion here. My sister and I were looking at it at the same time and she saw it counter clockwise while I saw it clockwise.

DK
10-12-2007, 07:00 PM
Nope, it's definitely not random, 'cause I just figured out accidentally a way to make her switch at will. Someone else linked me to this so I did it again and ended up doing this:

My monitor is however far away from my face, maybe like a foot and a half or something. Anyway how I did it was to like, put both my hands together like I was praying and then make a gun shape with my hands, you all know what I mean. and then I had my fingers lined up with the woman on screen but so I could still see most over her as well. Then I focused on my fingers so she was just out of focus in the background, and then rotated my fingers clockwise or anticlockwise, and if you keep it so you can only see her out of focus, you can pretty much change her direction at will (I can, anyway.) I can get her to turn back and forth mid spin and everything

edit: heh, don't even have to make it that complicated, just stare right at her and then move one of your hands in front of your face clockwise or counterclockwise and you can get her to change

JackNapier
10-12-2007, 07:06 PM
I used Psy's method and can now switch quite easily.

Momiji
10-14-2007, 07:53 PM
The easiest way I found to make her switch was to concentrate on the shadow of her foot.

Exactly. I can see her change directions by watching her foot. It just takes concentration.

EDIT: I can make her switch at will in my mind. Does that indicate equal left-right brain use?

Bunny
10-16-2007, 07:03 PM
The camera is rotating around the image.

ReloadPsi
10-16-2007, 07:19 PM
I make it so that when the leg's sticking out to the right, it's going clockwise, yet when it sticks out to the left, it goes anticlockwise, so I effectively have both going on at once.

What's that supposed to mean then?

Peegee
10-17-2007, 04:01 AM
It took me a while (about 10 minutes) to get it, but it involves your brain interpreting where the swinging foot is going : in front of the leg (counter clockwise) or behind the leg (clockwise).

I eventually control it by jolting my head around (just as her extended leg is at the peak of turning)

Try it it hurts and it's fun

Anyone that can make her switch at will is bipolar. This makes you superior to homo sapians and makes you the next step in human evolution. Feel proud.

As I've posted in the other thread about this (http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-chat/110670-stupid-right-sided-brain-2.html#post2326618).

Okay, there's something fishy going on here. The first time I clicked on the link she was going anti-clockwise, which would mean I use the right side of my brain.. but then I thought that everything attached to being a "righty" didn't fit me. I then decided to click on the link again, and this time she was going clockwise... and I found this a bit strange. I clicked a third time and she went clockwise once again.. I guess I use the left side of my brain, but then why did it go the other way the first time

Not anyone. Just bipolars. There are just a lot of bipolars here. I don't know how many are professionally diagnosed, but that's not really important because bipolar isn't an illness. If you can switch directions at will, then you are, indeed, bipolar. This is not bad, as the medical industry would have you believe, but instead makes you intellectually and creatively superior.
