I want to buy a new monitor to update my old monitor for gaming. But now I have a little trouble deciding... I want to decide between this Samsung and the Dell Monitor. I don't know which one is better for gaming.

Dell E228WFP 22 inch LCD Monitor ($269).

Samsung 226BW 22-Inch, I found a pretty price for it at a deal site: $265

The price is not a problem for me now. But I cann't decide which one to buy. Can you help me? Or recommend other monitor... Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

The Samsung has a faster response time, which is a plus for gaming. It's also cheaper, so it's probably the better deal.

Get a 22" with the fastest response time. Don't get Asus though -- the colour on that is atrocious.

All 22" monitors have back-light bleeding and colour problems. But for gaming, you won't notice. For anything to do with digital art, you will notice a huge difference.

By the way, Samsung is top quality. I'd go with that over Dell any day -- that and Phillips, LG, Sharp and NEC.

I have an Acer and a Samsung. I will like to say that technically Dell monitors are Samsung monitors.

Get the Samsung.

Samsung's got a pretty good reputation when it comes to displays.

I'll throw in my lot as well 'cause I'm wanting a new monitor. Not really for gaming per say (I do just fine on 1024 * 768), but I could really do with a higher resolution for when I'm coding (only being able to read 10~11 lines at a time is a pain beyond measure) and game designing (ever tried using UnrealEd at that resolution?). I need something cheap and cheerful. Nowt too flash, I just want something that can go up to say 50% higher than my current one. Goes without saying it should be LCD.

I thought Dell used the typical Chimei panels for their 22" panels, unless they changed that recently. I believe Samsung, LG and Phillips use the same panels. Can't remember, was awhile ago when I was researching.

Get a couple of BenQ 22", they are cheap and do the job fine for what you want.
