What is sales tax where you live? Bonus points if you can divy it up by federal, state and city.

Only one UK person need post ;))))) the VAT is the same all over there isn't it?

I think it's like 9.5% in fayetteville college town. In russelleville it's like 8.5%. I used to know how much state tax was, but I forgot since then.

Sales tax? It's 6% around here. I didn't know it differed from state to state, though. D:

At home I know it's 4% county, 4% state for a grand total of 8%. (Or 8.25% in some places, with 4.25% county. or at least it used to be.) That's in good ol' upstate New York.

Down here in PA, it's 6% total, though I don't know how it gets split up among the various governments.

I don't know the fed/state/local breakdown, but it's around 7.25% here in The Woodlands/Conroe, Texas.

I don't know anything other than it's 5% in Maryland and DC. Pennsylvania has 7% on everything except for food and clothing; actually, food might even be out of the question, as well as it has been quite some time.

According to some wikipedia page it's the same, except it's 12% for food and 6% for transport. So they're sliiiightly friendlier.

You could've donated 34 cents to charity and gotten the other 3 cents back as a refund.
