View Full Version : Organizing your files

Today, I decided to skip school. It's Halloween, and our school banned costumes a year ago, so it's not fun anymore. Plus, I don't really have any close friends anymore because I refuse to kiss ass during my last year of High School, since I really cba to put all that effort into people I'm just going to lose in a few months, so it's not like I had plans to work out.

So I stayed home, read, was pouted at by Mr. MILF, and... organized my computer files.

The thing with my laptop is that it's exploding with picture files, whether they be old pictures of me, or my various photoshop experiments, and they're all over the place and out of order, with a million subfolders. So I spent a few hours organizing all the pictures I want into different sections (Pictures of me, pictures of others, photography/art, computer graphics, and lulz internet animations/pictures/macros... among others. :3), deleting those I don't, keeping the subfolders to a minimum, etc.

I think I deleted 2 or 3 gigs of pictures. xD

Do you like to organize your computer files?

Only my porn

Yes, I do. I take as good care of my computer as possible, keeping it running at optimum speeds and reliability. I error check, defragment, and clean off any spyware (registry cleaners ftw). I delete stuff as necessary.

i always put stuff into folders and subfolders and subsubfolders and etc. before my last compy blew up (totally my bro downloading porn) i would have millions of songs and pix. like for instance, i would have:

my crap> pix> anime> cowboy bebop> faye

that was from my desktop. every pic had a catagory. no matter what. even if there was only 1 pic, i had a folder for it

My idea of organizing is creating a folder named "jiodfipsgfdas" and then throwing everything into it. Then I promptly lose the folder and repeat.

But how will you ever sort your prons, Bun Bun?!

You spelled organising wrong, Rye.

But yes.

I don't have any porn, actually. It's called being in a sexually active relationship, doi.

Also, Quinny-poo, do you say organiZING or organiSING? Come on now, silly English ninny.

Don't you doi at me, I'll rip your little bunny tongue out. :kaoangry: And Mrs. Bun Bun will not like that, I would imagine!

I like keeping my computer nice and tidy and pretty. :greenie:

In my boring lecture classes, if I can't connect to the internet, I'll just organize my files.

I did it about a week ago, I deleted pretty much everything apart from photos. I have just 2 folders 'friends' and 'family'. That's all I need ^_^

Aw. You are so adorable when you get angry. There there, Rye.

I am actually a very organized person and people often make fun of me for being so neurotic with file names and information about each individual file. I once spent an entire weekend organizing and labeling all of my movies, music, and anime with the necessary information.

I organise my files every couple of weeks or so, so that my laptop doesn't get scruffy! :jess:

I have been spending since last november putting files in good logical places, slowly but surely, also rating my itunes music.

I only have 2 files, windows and firefox. No need organizing that.

I save everything on my desktop, and then when it gets full I either put it in the right folder then, or (more commonly) I throw it all into one big unholy folder called "other' that probably takes up more room than anything else on my computer. And all the names of the files are gibberish, so I can't find anything.

I keep saying I'll organize it, but I probably never will.

I have a folder of 'Random Stuffs' mainly stupid pics, most of which need to be deleted. I also have pics of me with my ex. We're on fairly good terms, but I don't like to really look at them, but I don't want to get rid of them. :(

All my fanfics and resumes are in neat little files of their own. When I had my old laptop (before it got that freakin' virus! :mad2: ) I used to have my music all divided up according to genre; now they just go into the iTunes folder. :eep:

Of course. And not just computer files. If I see a pen has been moved from its place on my desk, it must be fixed!

If I get bored enough of just sick of it I will. I need to clean up my desktop imo.

I usually start out somewhat organized and then get overwhelmed after a few weeks and then it becomes disorganized in the folder I had it so neatly organized in.

What Tavvy said.

I'm always worried that a party may suddenly happen (or something) and people will hop on my precious computer and see everything inside, so it must all be perfect and organized.

Messy desktops are nastiness. Things get put there temporarily, but I clean it off about every week. :D

I have a specific folder for things I download through Firefox and that became a mess within a day of creating it. It's not really wise to go in there without some kind of map now. Otherwise, a lot of stuff just collects on my desktop and I'll tidy it up a bit. About three days later it'll need tidying again, but it'll be a week until I actually get around to it.

I collect the stuff that I don't know where to throw on the desktop and organize it once in a while. Only my music is really organized in a different folder for each artist.

If I have the time I like to go through it and delete whatever needs to be deleted. I actually did it recently, which was pretty nice.

My files are pretty organized but there are always some pictures that I don't know what to do with because they're too random... but I manage to create catagories for them somehow.

My music is very well organized. Everything else just gets put in a place after I get too tired of it being disorganized.
