Hello everyone. Mr. MILFord Meanswell has a middle name. His middle name is Vannevar. As some of you might know, I changed my name a little over a year ago now, and I chose the middle name Vannevar because I needed something with a little snap to offset Huxley Hobbes. I also chose it because Vannevar Bush, from whom I got the name, was kind of cool in many ways (And very uncool in others, but who is counting?). Memex, for instance, and a general prediction about the 'tubes. And of course, my initials are now entirely symmetical - HVH - it's almost like a title of nobility.

What, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Turing bots and aimbots, tenth generation polysentients and organic superlubes, are your middle names, and from whence do they hail?

Lauren is my middle name. I have no explanation, I just think my parents liked that name, but not as much as Jessica! :jess:

Elizabeth! I dunno where it's from :p
Every other girl in my school is either named Jessica or has the middle name Elizabeth. Luckily I don't know anyone with both.

I like my name, though n.n

Three consecutive Jessicas. This is awesome and bragable.

Also, previously secret plot to discover how to spell Rye's middle name complete. :3 I knew something was weird about it. I didn't remember what.

I really love my middle name, and maybe it's because I think it's so pretty but sometimes I feel that you should keep them kinda secret. Like I seriously didn't tell anyone my middle name for years in elementary school!

There's a book called Island of the Blue Dolphins where the islanders had a common name and a secret name that had power. And although I have probably already posted my middle name on this board before (and you're welcome to search for it!) I think I'll abstain this time, because really they are too special to just throw around. I feel weird seeing my full name in print.

MILF, what was your name before you changed it?

My middle name is Timika. And it's derived from both my parent's names combined. Whenever I tell someone offline this is my middle name they're like, "Oh, it's so cute!" No it isn't. Don't lie to me.

I want to get married to someone with a last name that begins with an "S" because then my initials will be TTS. Yes, tee tee 's... oh shut up.

Raphael Wratten.

Raphael is my father's middle name; he received it from his uncle Raphael. Perhaps it was to appease my grandmother, as Thomas and Miller are in no way Greek names.

Wratten is my mother's maiden name. They often apologize for giving me this name whenever I complain about it.

Janelle, my Aunty's name. It was going to be my first name but my folks probably decided at last minute that two Janelles in the family would be confusing. I like it better than my first name, because my first name is WAY too common.

Breinholt. It's more of a second last name than an actual middle name, though. Having two last names in Denmark is pretty common - you normally get your dad's last name and then your mother's middle name.

No seriously though, it's Maree. Totally not bad*ss. 2 of my grandmother's middle names (I think my mom's mom and one of my great grandmothers, my mom told me) spelled it Marie instead of Maree but my mom wanted to spell it Maree for some dumb reason.

Maree sounds cuter anyway. :D

Raphael, my first middle name, was my father's middle name before me; he received it from his great Uncle Raphael, a Harvard professor on his maternal side.

Wratten, my second middle name, is my mother's maiden name. I don't really know why my parents decided to tack it in there, but I use it for my pseudonym alongside my first initial (R. W. Miller), so it's not all bad.
