How many of you guys got orthodontics as a child? I just got a call from somebody who had to 'take out her retainer' to speak normally. I was shocked -- do people actually have ortho done when they are still in their twenties?

When I see girls in the club with ortho I tease them.

I had braces my junior year of high school. Total crock--didn't do what they were supposedly going to do.

One of the only people I know who never needed them. xD

I've never needed them. Then again, my wisdom teeth haven't grown in.

For five years until about a year ago! I haven't been wearing my retainer, so some of my teeth moved back to how they were when I started. I got out of my routine, and by time I tried going back it'd been too late :(

For those who know me to actually smile, it's clear I've never had orthodontic work.

I had braces from the time I was in 6th grade until the end of my 8th grade year. Since I stopped wearing my retainers (they hurt like the devil), my teeth went back to normal, which wasn't anything majorly bad to begin with, other than two crooked teeth (one tooth on the top left overlapped another, but that one's still corrected as of today, the other problem was a slightly inturned tooth on the bottom which has gone back to how it was before), a slight gap between the two front (it was worse before I had braces than it is now that I don't wear retainers), and a slight overbite (have it again..)

Other than that and another small gap, my teeth are reasonably straight =] It's nothing noticeable, really.

I probably should have had braces or stuff like that, a few of my teeth look kinda strange, my canine teeth in particular. Good thing it doesn't really show unless you're looking closely for it.

I've never had ortho work done but I plan to in the future. ^_^ Yes, in my 20s.

Twice. Once in elementary school, and once in high school. For too long both times.

Need 'em but don't care to have 'em.

Had one for a year or so when I was 11 or 12.

I have the opinion or expectation that once you get to the age where your teeth/jaw do not grow/change, ortho doesn't work and you just get surgery.

Maybe you need to wear a retainer after surgery? Shruggle.

I don't think I need them, but my parents are convinced I do. Im just avoiding the topic and hoping they forget, as I do not want them.

I had braces for years. I got them off in February this year. It's totally worth the hassle, I think. :jess:

Had them in middle school and again in high school. When I was younger people used to say that we couldn't have braces on when we were older, but I see a lot of people even older than me wearing them... it was weird.

My front teeth are still messed up, but I don't really mind it. What they were before the braces was a lot worse, and I had them on because of a different problem anyway.

I have a small mouth so I needed braces so some of my teeth would grow in... I really should where my retainer more.
