i don't care, Shadow's not THAT important

Okay honestly, how great is Shadow? My boyfriend is insisting that he restarts FFVI from the beginning because he didn't save shadow.

I think all the characters are at like lvl 42 at the least, and he has them all except Shadow, obviously.

I really want to do a playthrough myself but I want to see how well he fares fighting Kefka, so I'm waiting for him to beat the game.

So! How important is Shadow to you? Or, what character do you ALWAYS have to have no matter what? Mine's Locke. For serious. <3

I'm not a big Shadow fan either. I leave him and Gau on the airship. Anyway I always have to have Celes and Edgar on my team.

I use him for the first half of the WoR, as his skeans and such are relatively powerful until you find the better espers and equipment.

I use him in the final battle, throwing excalibur at the final bosses always makes me smile, Same with other weapons.
I used to use Edgar's deliberater alot too but i dont know why i stopped using that strategy.

Shadow's pretty damn cool. I like to have all of them. It's like...collecting. Mog, Terra, Setzer (well you have to have him) and Locke are the ones I'd say I'd always take.

Shadow, yeah, he's one of my favorites, I usually have him dual wield something with an added effect (striker I think?) and black belt. Always one of my top guys.

Shadow is amazing, if you turn him into an imp. No joke, do it. Turn him into an imp, give him the dragon boots and dragon horn, and all the imp equipment, and be amazed.

When he's off the screen, he obviously can't be hit. When he's on the screen his evasion is amazing, and the thing about shadow is, evasion = interceptor. So you get tons of bonus damage. More people should seriously try this.

Are you kidding? With Shadow it is possible to have 1 nearly invincible character. And with the right equipment, Shadow can be the 2 near invincible. He can be very good if you exploit his evade.

I HAVE to get Locke. Because he steals Ribbons galore from the Brachiosaurs. Other than that, I don't know, but I have to confess I usually end up getting everyone just for the sake of it, even people I never use like Umaro.

I always get everyone, simply because I want to get the most out of the game. Is there anything wrong with that? At the end I usually leave Gau and Mog on the airship.

I always have to get Terra. She normally has the most MP by the final boss and can just completely obliterate it with Ultima and Quick. I find Shadows only usefulness is within the Floating Continent.

I couldn't bring myself to leave Shadow behind, the guilt would kill me. I don't usually use him in my main party, though.

I think I've used Shadow once as part of my main party, but I don't usually go out of my way to use him. I do, however, always save him. I like to have all the characters in games that I play (this is particularly evident in Fire Emblem games) and I'd just feel a bit annoyed to be one short at the end of the game. Plus he's a pretty cool character.

Shadow should have his own spinoff game. I'm sure -anything- they did with him would be better than, say, DoC.

As far as choosing characters based on their stats or abilities...it's not like there's any boss in FFVI that can't be killed by -any- character. FFVI's cake...it's all about the story. Characters are more than the sum of their stats.

I found Relm with Interceptor in the cave and I was rather clueless where Shadow was. So I googled, found this website and found all the answers here. I'm so glad I found this forum because I've recently stopped playing FFVI after hearing that if you don't save Shadow on Floating Islands, he never comes back.

I'm a little sad that I won't get him again, so I'm going to restart my game from scratch simply because in every game I have played, I try my best to get everything as much as possible.

And for some strange reason, the second I saw Shadow I had an ferocious hardon when he entered the screen.

Arguably one of the best characters in the game and the most mysterious on top of it. I think Shadow is awesome character. His evade is unmatched and when properly equipped is a definite force to be reckoned with. I always save him, as he is my favorite chracter in the game I use him as much as possible.
