So edczxcvbnm got me a rice cooker a while back and I haven't used it yet, but now I'm using it because I'm being bored and unproductive and when I'm bored I resort to eating. xD *munches sandwhich while staring at rice cooking process* Anyway, I think it's the coolest thing ever!

I'm cooking some weird mixed grain rice and the water turned black when it started being cooked, and it's bubbling all over now. Yay for clear covers. Oh, and I'm doing this in my room. xD *stares at it* Ooh bubbling black rice water... (of doom!!) :</>D

It's also making these spiffy popping noises. And splattering brown stuff all over the inside of the cooker. This will be a bish to clean. n_n!

Well anyway I'm fairly sure the bubbles aren't supposed to be there because this never happened while I was cooking with my parents' rice cooker at home and I don't know if this will turn out very edible, but it's pretty awesome. xD *amuses self*

What do you think about rice cookers? ^_^

(famous last words?)

[PS] Also if you own a rice cooker, are you asian? :shifty:

I have never used one before myself but bubbling seems normal to me from what I remember cooking rice in a pot and stuff. It shouldn't be too hard to clean. I think the bowl and stuff had teflon on it.

Good luck :D

Monkeys clearly aren't capable of cooking...

EDIT: keep trying though ^_^

I've never used one ^^ but I do love cooking rice! Yay! Though I much prefer brown rice to white. White is too starchy for me. Yummy yummy! Rice in my tummy!

I'm relatively indifferent. If I ate alot of rice, I'd probably think they were pretty cool..

It tastes fine, I'm eating it now :mog:

Only the bottom of it is completely stuck to the pot xD Maybe that's why they said to add cooking oil in the instructions... and I was like, eh, can't be that important *skips* :p

I always thought a pot cooked rice just fine.

My family has like, 3 different rice cookers. The latest one they got is this fancy stone one from Korea that talks to you.

I used to have one at my apartment but it broke. ;_;

I didn't even know that there existed such a device.. Is it just me, or have I just been living under a stone for the past years?

You simply haven't been touched by an Asian yet.

I consume quite a bit of rice; thusly, I have been considering purchasing a rice cooker.

And no, I am not Asian.

Not a chance, old fashioned way for me, pot, rice, heat, water.

Then again last time I tried to make basmati rice it came out like porridge :(

Rice cookers are nothing new in my household. It's like the number 1 appliance (unless the stove is).

Rice is good when it's wrapped in seaweed. ^^

I must concur with this absolute truth.
