I just got my orders to attend a Naval Justice school of some sort in Newport, Rhode Island and I have some questions for anyone and everyone that has ever been to Rhode Island.

1.) Why is Rhode Island its own state?
2.) How big is Rhode Island?
3.) I understand that Newport is it's own island, is there anything to do there?
4.) Is T-mobile's service effected in negatively in anyway?
5.) Is there anything fun and/or interesting to do in Rhode Island?

Rhode Island is supposed to be really gorgeous. If I don't get into NYU, I may go to college there at URI.

True, it's like the PEI of the states.

So far it seems as though there is absolutely nothing to do in Rhode Island.

In 1636, Roger Williams, after being banished from the Massachusetts Bay Colony for his religious views, settled at the tip of Narragansett Bay. He called the site Providence and declared it a place of religious freedom.

Keeping with its culture of defiance, Rhode Island was the first of the original thirteen colonies to declare its independence from England (May 4, 1776) and the last to ratify the Constitution (which replaced the Articles of Confederation) (May 29, 1790)—doing the latter only after being threatened with having its exports taxed as a foreign nation.

From Wikipedia.

So I guess RI is its own state for being so goshdarn badass. I don't think it's fair to be biased against a state for being small, without even being there. (New Jersey is a different story.)

I'm not biased against New Jersey's size. I'm just biased against its smell.
