Do you look at people in the face when you talk to them?

I have the absolute hardest time doing that. I can do that with about a handful of people. But I really enjoy looking at people, because I enjoy photographing and drawing facial features. That's why I enjoy the summer, because I get to wear huge sunglasses and watch people and stare at them and they don't realize.

In England everyone seems to hate direct eye contact, so I avoid it.

I have a real problem with this. I was looking around a few Colleges yesterday and the day before, and in one my Dad actually told me I was being really rude because I just couldn't keep eye contact with the teacher talking to me; I was looking at everything but him. I can't help it; I can't even look my friends directly in the eye for long, I feel so paranoid.

I look right into their eyes, breaking contact every now and then so that I'm not rude.

Yep. I feel arrogant if I stare for too long.

I stare them dead in the eye and I do not blink for at least 45 seconds. It tends to freak people out and they stop talking to me.

I used to have a hard time, then I started drinking, now everything seems easier, like I can talk to people I don't know and not die. Though, I tend to stare and not blink for a minute or so, people tend to ask me if I'm still awake/alive.

I was always taught to look people directly in the eyes when speaking or listening. This shows interest and strong will.

Replace "eyes" with "boobs".

I always try to look people in the eye when talking to them, but sometimes it just doesn't happen. I always try though. :D

Yes. I look people in the eye a lot when I talk to them. Those close talkers hate me because I'm usually about a foot taller than them :D

Can't do it, makes me really nervous/uncomfortable. I usually look at their eyes for short periods of time, then look at something else, and take it in small portions like that. :/

I was taught that as well, but I find it can make you seem incredibly rude if you aren't careful.

I just can't look people in the eye. It's especially bad when they have really bright eyes, like blue or green or something -- I get all shifty and start looking around. I have a huge problem with eye contact :O But I'm going to work on it.

I find it difficult to maintain eye contact with people I don't know very well, but I always look people in the eye if I know them and trust them. :jess:

I always look at people when I'm in conversation with them. It makes them think I'm interested in what they're saying, usually.

I really don't like to make direct eye contact, but I try to, and my mom says it is dishonest not to do so.

I'm very much into eye-contact. It makes a lot of people nervous.
