Anyway, what do you mean by "made you feel different"?
Do you mean feel better?
Do you mean gave you a new vision on the world? Or changed you life?

Are you ready?

ICP. When I listen to them it makes me feel great and puts me in a super-good mood. I have a lot of good memories with the music involved and they always remind me of my buddy Jeff.

There are many.

*~*"Stars" by Alejandro Fuentes- Made me feel...I dunno, kind of a weird mixture between happy and sad.

*~*"Open Your Mind" from the Ah! My Goddess! anime, in Japanese- Happy =]

*~*Hidashi No Kiseki from the Japanese FFX-2 OST, sung by Rikku's Japanese voice actress- Happy, upbeat, like I could dance =]

*~*Skin (Sarah Beth) by Rascal Flatts- Sad...it taught me something. Don't take the little things that make you happy, even during a bad time, for granted, because there are those that will cherish those moments...because they're their last moments alive.

*~*"Hey There Delilah" by The Plain White Tees- Even though this song is overplayed and I don't really like acoustic songs very much...it's perfect because its lyrics are about a long distance love..and that's what I have, so it's special to me.

*~*"Bubbly" by Colby Caillat- Makes me happy even if I'm having a really bad day, because it describes how He makes me feel =] :lovers:

There are many more, I just dont' feel like listing them.

Det Som En Gang Var by Burzum always makes me feel more like I'm in a surreal state of mind.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Coma by Guns n' Roses, that's a really trippy song.

Aphex Twin - Nanou 2
Radiohead - Kid A
Skycamefalling - To Forever Embrace The Sun
Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
Finch - Letters To You

These five songs changed my life. Letters To You isn't one of my favourites anymore, but its impact on my future (and current) taste in music is massive. Black Hole Sun is the first rock/pop song I remember listening to, so that has significance. Kid A (the whole album, but specifically this song) made me realize just how much I liked electronically-influenced music. To Forever Embrace The Sun opened a subgenre of organically textured music to me, that I would later find out was called "post-rock". Lastly, Nanou 2 is one of the simplest and most beautiful piano pieces I have ever listened to.

Transmission over.

There are so many but I guess I can name off some of the bands I've been listening to lately that really give me that "feeling":

M83
Cold War Kids
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Battles
Animal Collective
Feist
Panda Bear
THE MARS VOLTA

I agree that The Mars Volta rock.

Anything techno puts me in a better mood. Especially Smile.dk, Cascada and Gunther and the Sunshine Girls.

Evanescence, some songs more than others, can get kind of depressing, but I think they're a good band. "Where Will You Go?" was like, my theme song and freaked the s*** out of me, if you've ever heard that or know me you'd understand why. I think that's definitely one of those songs that changed the way I lived because I listened to it.

I've touted my love of Tool on here before and I'm going to do it again. Listening to the songs Lateralus, Wings for Marie/10,000 Days, and Rosetta Stoned are about the closest I've come to something I could call a spiritual experience. Those are songs that transcend the individual parts and lyrical content like no others and become something truly incredible to my ears. They have an energy about them that I can't help but end up feeling to the core of my being.

I remember on a specific occasion after listening to

Gackt- Speedmaster

I became absolutely psyched and sort-of narcisistic which is rare in my case.

OH YES.

Well it's hard for me to list any because all songs I listen to regularly make me feel different. If a song doesn't move me on an emotional level, stimulate my thoughts or inspire my creativity, I won't listen to it.

If you're referring to disturbing music, the Wall by Pink Floyd disturbs me, though I've grown to enjoy it. Also, the lyrics and story of the Lamb Lies down on Broadway is alarming at moments (In the Cage, the Lamia for example), and Assasing by Marillion is also very dark, psychotic even. These are songs I wouldn't want to listen to unstable, but I still get a gritty satisfaction out of them at times. Anyone who hasn't felt accepted by society can relate to the raw emotion of Roger Waters in the Wall, most can enjoy the dark imagery of them in general.

The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger and Wham! - Wake Me Up Before you Go Go cheer me up no end! :p I was on the phone to a friend about two hours ago, and he sounded really sad, so I felt sad, too. :( So I went away, heard these songs, and felt a bit better. :)

Melodies of Life from Final Fantasy IX makes me cry...

It is a beautiful heart breaking song that reminds me of the tragic death of Zack at the end of “Crisis Core” video game.
You can download the song from

The Land Of Might Have Been lyrics:
Somewhere there is another land
Deferent from this world below
Far more mercifully planed than the cruel place we know
Innocence and peace are there
All is good that is desired
Faces there are always fair
Love grows never old or tired
We shall never find that lovely land of might have been
I can never be your king nor you can be my queen
Days may pass and years may pass and seas my lay between
We shall never find that lovely land of might have been
Sometimes on the rarest nights
Comes the vision calm and clear
Gleaming with other earthly lights
On a path of dive and fear
Winds from that far land are blown
Whispering with secret breath
Hop that plays her tune of love
Love that concurs pain and death
Shall we ever find that lovely land of might have been?
Will I ever be your king or you had last my queen?
Days may pass and years may pass and seas my lay between
Shall we ever find that lovely land of might have been?

Evanescence has gotten me through some rough spots.
Opened my mind to the possibilities.

THeres one son that says "Forever is like sitting home alone inside your head" which scared me immensely. Forever is FOREVER it doesn't end so damn.

"A Sorta Fairytale" by Tori Amos.

"Braille" by Regina Spektor.

She was lying on the floor and counting stretch marks
She hadn't been a virgin and he hadn't been a god
So she names the baby Elvis
To make up for the royalty he lacked

And from then on it was turpentine and patches
From then on it was cold Campbell's from the can
They were just two jerks playing with matches
Cause that's all they knew how to play

Admit it!
Despite your pseudo-bohemian appearance
And vaguely leftist doctrine of beliefs
You know nothing about art or sex
That you couldn’t read in any trendy New York underground fashion magazine
Prototypical non-conformist
You are a vacuous soldier of the thrift store Gestapo
You adhere to a set of standards and tastes
That appear to be determined by an unseen panel of hipster judges (bull:skull::skull::skull::skull:)
Giving a thumbs up or thumbs down to incoming and outgoing trends and styles of music and art
Go analog baby, you’re so post-modern
You’re diving face forward into a antiquated past
It’s disgusting, it's offensive, don’t stick your nose up at me

Yeah, what do you have to say for yourself?
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah
Yeah, what do you have to say for yourself?
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah

You spend your time sitting in circles with your friends
Pontificating to each other
Forever competing for that one moment of self-aggrandizing glory
In which you hog the intellectual spotlight
Holding dominion over the entire shallow pointless conversation
Oh, we’re not worthy
When you walk by a group of quote-unquote normal people
You chuckle to yourself patting yourself on the back as you scoff
It's the same superiority complex
Shared by the high school jocks who made your life a living hell
And makes you a slave to the competitive capitalist dogma
You spend every moment of your waking life bitching about

Yeah, what do you have to say for yourself?
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah
And I say yeah, what do you have to say for yourself?
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah

'Cause I’m proud of my life and the things that I have done
Proud of myself and the loner I’ve become
You’re free to whine, it will not get you far
I do just fine, my car and my guitar

Proud of my life and the things that I have done
Proud of myself and the loner I’ve become
You’re free to whine, it will not get you far
I do just fine, my car and my guitar, yeah

Well let me tell you this, I am shamelessly self-involved
I spend hours in front of the mirror, making my hair elegantly disheveled
I worry about how this album will sell
Because I believe it will determine the amount of sex I will have in the future
I self medicate with drugs and alcohol to treat my extreme social anxiety

You are a faker (admit it)
You are a fraud (admit it)
Yeah, you’re living a lie (hey) living a lie (hey) you’re life is living a lie
You don’t impress me (admit it)
You don’t intimidate me (admit it)
Why don’t you bow down, get on the ground, walk this smurfing plank (yeah!)

Yeah, what do you have to say for yourself
Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah
And I say yeah (what do you..)

Proud of my life and the things that I have done
Proud of myself and the loner I’ve become
You’re free to whine, it will not get you far
I do just fine, my car and my..
Guitar, guitar go!

I drift, drift, drift, drift, drift, yeah
I drift, drift, drift, drift, drift, yeah oh

And I am done with this
I wanna taste the breeze of every great city
My car and my guitar
My car and my guitar
So you'll come to be, made of these urges unfulfilled
Oh no, no, no, no, no
When I'm dead I'll rest
When I'm dead I'll rest, lay still
When I'm dead I'll rest, I'll rest
When I'm dead I'll rest, I'll rest
When I'm dead I'll rest, I'll rest
When I'm dead I'll rest, I'll rest

Yeah. Haha. Really...True, witty...clever? I dunno. Makes you double think things.
