why can't I move you around?
is this some weird quirk like you can't be connected to a network to be able to move it?
Are we talking Windows or OSX here? I can move the network icon around on both XP and Vista. :p

Quick steps to fixing:
1) Find a Windows machine
2) move around the My Network Icon until you get bored of playing with it
3) Go back to using your own computer?
On a serious note does Mac have the ability to lock an item via any properties dialogues?

Take a screenshot, paste it into Photoshop, select the icon area and move it for as long as you like.

That's what you get for being a Mac user.*nursery-school supervisor look*
Can't you just delete it?
How about you find the icon wherever it's stored on OSX and craft yourself a new one? :p

Or just upgrade to Windows 95.

You can't delete it. It's the network. I could pull the ethernet cord, but then I couldn't use the internet :p

it doesn't reach up to the top floors here, and technically we're not supposed to have our own routers because usually people don't set them up correctly.

Baloki, I don't own it, so I can't modify it.

I can't unless I'm owner!
Can you start Aqua as root? Can you get root access?
su -c 'chown rubahness /path/to/network/icon'?
su -c 'chmod 777 /path/to/network/icon'?
