Ummm... custom builds are actually quite expensive. Buying a pre-fabricated one would be much cheap, but you probably will not get anything high quality for 800$. I've paid 1100 Euro for mine back in September 2006 and it's still only a multimedia notebook.

If you're in for good and cheap hardware, go for Acer. Their casings aren't the best though. If you're in for solid but expensive builds, SONY and Toshiba are a good bet (talking of experience, SONY lives forever and I haven't had any problems with my Toshiba either). I'd be careful with Samsung.

Here's how you can do it:

1. Acquire a copy of <a href="http://www.modchip.com/breakerpro.htm">Breaker Pro</a>. How you get it is up to you, but know that it can be burnt.

2. Use Swap Magic to boot Breaker Pro if it's not legitimate, or just boot an authentic copy.

3. Then use Breaker Pro to boot your PS1 game.

There are other methods you can use, such as a memory card loader (notoriously unreliable and causes an area of undeletable, corrupt data on your memory card) or, of course, a modchip. I eventually got a mod chip because I got sick of having to swap discs all of the time.

Apparently Psy asked me to write this because if I had showed up just a bit later, I would have qualified for the award. :P

We here at Eyeson are a community. That much is obvious as soon as you start looking around. What you may not think about right away, though, is what happens when someone leaves this community. On the internet, it's very common to leave without saying goodbye, because you end up leaving without even meaning to leave in the first place. When an established member of the community disappears, the community does feel it, and perhaps it's not quite as great a place without them. The following individuals meet that standard;

Chris

Who could forget Chris with his creepy fascination with Grace Jones? He’s banned now, so there’s little chance of him coming back without breaking the rules. He was one of the ones who was banned for pushing the limits of what’s allowed and what’s not allowed in the community. Still, he did it in such a way to leave plenty of room to like him, which is evidenced by the fact that he’s been gone for over a year and he’s still missed.

Christmas

Christmas is one talented MSPaint artist. She’s ubercreative, with her own little caricature of pretty much any Eyeson member who makes their presence known. And she certainly made hers known! Christmas is really more of an online persona than anything. Odds are, nobody could be that crazy in real life and still function. The only thing more obvious about her than her Paint skills is her insane love/hate relationship with “Nanny Manus!” Hopefully, she’ll be back soon. I’m not entirely sure where she is, but I believe it has something to do with being in the military. Let’s all hope for her safe return.

Kikimm

Kiks was once one of the more prominent members of the community. She was a CK, even. Up until September she was a very regular member, but suddenly she relinquished her posi<b></b>tion as a CK and disappeared. She hasn’t been back since. I don’t know where she went, but this seems like the timing and behaviour of someone who chose to focus her energies on her studies, instead of moderating a forum. Still, does that mean she can’t pop by now and then? Goodness.

Meat Puppet

Meat Puppet is an odd character. When he started off he was a very visible member. He was always there, doing something crazy. Then as the years went by, he started appearing more and more sporadically. Perhaps because he hadn’t actually played a Final Fantasy in years. How can you belong to a Final Fantasy forum and not know who Tidus is? He’s a paradox, I tells ya. Anyway, he hasn’t been seen since September, but it’s very possible that this is just one of his regular disappearances gone on a bit long. Fingers crossed.

Owen Macwere

The rest of these nominees either did something silly or just disappeared by their own choice. Owen, however, is the victim of circumstance. He wasn’t very obvious when he first joined, but when he took up graphic design he quickly made a name for himself. At first he was a bit full of himself and alienated some people, but eventually he learned some humility and managed to win everyone over.

By the end of his all-to-short life, he had made many friends here. Even people like Genji, who hate everyone but especially hated him, ended up taking a liking to him. But Owen wasn’t well. This is something that he only shared with his closest friends (a rank I, personally, never reached), but he had a problem with his lungs that required extensive medical treatments. One day, Owen went in for surgery, but didn’t make it out. Owen wanted to be here, the community wanted him to be here, the only reason for him not to be here right now is the incredible unfairness that is life.

Rest In Peace, Owen MacWere.

Reine

Back in lighthearted mode, what can be said about Reine? Reine is Reine. Reine is another member who was banned on a technicality more than anything. Reine made a mistake, and unfortunately it was one of the big mistakes you can make on this site, and paid for it. Reine is still around, having fun on at least one of Eyeson’s satellite boards. I keep referring to Reine as “Reine” because I can’t, for the life of me, remember Reine’s gender. Reine likes to be ambiguous.

RSL

Rydia’s Secret Lover is kind of like Kikimm in that he used to be one of the most prominent members of the community. He made it all the way up to Administrator, even. The big thing about RSL is that it’s incredibly hard not to like him. One of the most pleasant people ever to sail the seven internets, known for his adorable beard and love of stuffed donkeys, he’s also very shy, probably using the luscious beard as a psychological mask. Come back, RSL! We miss you!

Wyllius

Whoah, who the hell is this? It looks like he used to be a staff member years ago, but I don’t remember him at all. He disappeared shortly after I joined. Maybe it was my fault. Oh, well. Sorry, buddy, looks like your speech is going to be a bit short.

Anyway, that’s pretty much everything there is to know about the nominees. Except Wyllius. I think it’s time to take a look at the winner, don’t you?



Many great people have joined EOFF and they are always well known for their amusing jokes, helpfulness or whatever you all like in a member.
But not all stay and unfortunately we must say goodbye to some who either decide to bugger off because they are bored or are hit by a tragic accident, who knows why they leave?
So this ciddie is to the special member who never came back and will never see their ciddie either probably.
What makes a missed member? The lack of humour after they have left? The tips that will never be given again? Or is it just a filler before the big stuff? I’m going for the latter.

Most Improved Member is a tricky category. It's a bit of a compliment-insult hybrid, and nobody really likes hybrids (just look at agnosticism or drag queens). On one hand, you're now pretty likable. On the other, before you were rubbish.

I like to think of Eyes on Final Fantasy as a learning process. As a cute tadpole, a member begins with an introduction thread proclaiming his or her favorite Final Fantasy and 10 different smilies in a row at the end of the sentence. But as is nature, all tadpoles must eventually evolve into dinosaurs. At this stage, you become bitter and make fun of other's introduction threads. Finally, you pretend you hate Final Fantasy completely and begin dating another member, completing the final evolutionary step known as Xena: Warrior Princess.

Of course, pretty much all the nominees have been here a while and not really done any of this, making most of this speech nonsense filler so it looks longer... So how have they each improved?

Azar now has some sperm that flitters in and out of his avatar every so often. This, apparently, is a complete metamorphosis of his personality. Cookie now comes with raisins and a bazooka. demondude55 has extra high-five power in his palm these days. edczxcvbnm seems a lot more cheerio lately and probably has a garden. Goldenboko now annoys Lekana a little less. Harle-Quin's hair became a hammerspace you can store sandwiches in. Heath got a new cape since 2002, now with extra whoosh. TyphoonThaReapa popped a little less cap. And Vincent, Thunder God added a cane to go with his tiara.

Let's all look forward to clapping the winner on the back and telling them congrats. And then telling them they're a woman since all the nominees were male and that must mean women are the pinnacle of improvement.

Blacker then a moonless night and hotter then hell itself. This is a cup of Coffee. Why do I talk about Coffee you may ask? Because not much else so closely resembles life and its bitterness. The people today know all to well what I mean, for they have shown a high degree of bitterness during their stay here. Which one holds the Blackest cup of Coffee?

Our First candidate, Bunny, is very bitter indeed. He holds extreme contempt for the rest of humanity, giving very few a chance. His words are harsh and his victims chosen indiscriminately. There are truly few in this world who attempt to break down others on a whim, but our bunny is one of those people.

Dr Unne is one of our classic bitter oldbees. The years have not been kind to him, as time and time again he is forced to listen to the same drivel coming from new people. Seeing the EoFF he once loved slowly fleeting away, he grew more and more resentful until he had become the bitter shell of a man you see before you now.

Okay, Ebczxcmnb? He’s bitter? I always though he was slightly fun loving, and he has a girlfriend. Does he even have anything to be bitter about? How the hell does this guy beat me and get nominated most bitter? I’ don’t understand you people and your inane voting. Bah.


I think my memory is slipping in my old age. Who is this Jon Thompson? And what makes him bitter? I’m tired of making things up for these people. I’m overworked and underpaid. You realize how much they pay for doing these Speeches!? Nothing. And here I am, doing another one. About people I don’t even know. Yeah, you though your life was difficult.

And now for everyone’s Favorite oldbee Raistlin. Unlike Unne, he was a sad, bitter shell of a man since the beginning. He was born bitter, has lived his life bitter, and shall die bitter. He approaches everything with cynicism, and constantly belittles all he sees. Raistlin, my friend, is like straight Columbian Coffee.

Shlupquack. What can we say about Shlupquack. Well, she steals credit for others work for one. And after reading this she will probably get pissy with me and do something to my account while saying “Who’s doing the work now bitch! HAHAHAHA!” Yep, that’s pretty damn bitter right there.

So, we are on to Tavrobel now? This dude works way to much. All that time put into the Volunteer Forum, and what does he get? Carpal Tunnel. That’s right, Tavrobel suffers from a never ending case of Carpal Tunnel due to the harsh work environment offered by Azar. Thanks to that cruel man, our poor Tavrobel has become weary and hateful of the world. Another casualty of low pay and too many hours.

The Ceej is here for one reason and one reason only, he hates this thing. He hates it enough to ignore our precious Award Guy and then complain about the after effects of his own actions. Why does he hate the ciddies so? Why does he not like AG? Why did he make a thread about it? His bitterness is shrouded in mystery, however it is undeniably there.

We end our nominees with a man who hates staff. Vincent, Thunder God. Screaming “Revolution” and “Power Abuse” at every given opportunity, he has shown an unrelenting urge to bring down the staff. He has even dragged followers into his little revolution, so that his contempt will spread like Wild Fire. He is so clouded in his bitterness, however, that he fails to realize his wasted efforts. To put bitterness before rational is indeed a rare skill, but this man has mastered it.
