I heard about this book a couple of years ago from some people at brightshinything forums, but I never thought I would care to read them.
(I heard about them because someone put in a request for a doll of her; <img src="http://www.snowy-day.net/stuff/dolls/sabriel.png"/> you see)

Anyways, I decided to start reading all the books I've been meaning to for years, and this one got on my list by random rememberance.

And it was dang good!

the musical control of the dead appeals to my band nerd side, and I was pleased to find that the title character was not the frigid bitch she appears on the cover of the book (well I mean unless she's TRYING to be that way!). anyways, it was a pretty fast read 1) because it is a young adult book and 2) because it begs you to read more xD

Any other thoughts? (I'm off to read wikipedia article on it ;o)

I have this book, and I keep meaning to read it. I know it's going to be good, because I REALLY loved Garth Nix's The Seventh Tower series, and I hear that this Sabriel/Lirael/Something else El trilogy is really amazing.

Last book's called Abhorsen, and yes it's a brilliantly written series. It's got just the right mix of fantasy cliches, reality and uniqueness to make you read until the end. Certainly better than say the Harry Potter novels.
