There was allegedly a ROM hack of this game made a while ago that turned it into FFX. Did it actually exist, and if so was it even completed?

I'm not asking where to get it, that would violate forum rules, I just wanna know if it's real before I try and look for it.

There was a group that was trying to make a playable ffx for the nes; They released an .exe were you could go around on a worldmap and not much else, but they had a ton of pictures of screens, and it looked pretty good. They did a nice remake of the To Zanarkand theme that played, apparently also the intro music when you start in zanarkand kinda meshed with Prelude.

sadly the last time I checked, the project was pretty abandoned.

I've seen some screenshots of it. I'm not sure how much of it was completed though.

links don't work for me, but I did find this (if you know japanese this may be a serious spoiler):

YouTube - FINAL FANTASY 10 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCUMGW2Sw5A&feature=related)

I actually always wanted to see something like this, I think if someone did it, it would be great.

God damn, that's a nice Macalania/Kilika/Gagazet Cave remix! Always was one of my favourites from the game, and that's just awesome.

In the meantime I think I'm gonna have to concede that I'll never find this. Squenix did a good job of making sure it was wiped off the net :(

I wonder why they did for? They must don't appreciate their fans trying to express their love for the series. Actually I think Square should do a remake like that. It would be much different instead of doing remakes like everybody else with updated graphics and battle engines they could dumb it down to older eras. It would be a demake!

How do you play it? When I open it all I get is just some coding

Please don't double post. Use the Edit button for that. ~Ko

It's cute and all, but I don't see why I'd play a fugly version of something pretty.

I would actually like to try that version, LunarWeaver.

If the creators wanted to sell it, then Square would have to stop them from producing it because it would be copyright infringement. If they weren't selling it, I think Square could care less what they did with it.

They were using a ROM of FF2, which isn't strictly legal. Also, they were alterting the ROM, which I'm not entirely sure is legal either. Moreover, some legal loophole will have found them to be violating the copyright on FF10 somehow.

Remember that Chrono Trigger remake?

Yeah, Chrono Ressurection was one of the ceased projects too.

you'd think if people could actually pull off a ffx NES ROM that would be worth overlooking the copyright issues, especially since it owuld obviously be only for artistic value.

well looking at that youtube video, its possible there may be a rom of this in japanese... someone would have to translate it then. At the very least there may be just a few more scenes done like this one. It was very well done though.
