View Full Version : What Did You Watch at Christmas?

Come the Christmas holidays, there's always that period of time where you've run out of things to say, and the old family resentments are all building up with the amount of alcohol consumed. At that point, what can you do to at least hold off the bitter, raging arguments for a few hours? Pop on the telly and watch a film!

On Christmas Day, we watched The Bourne Ultimatum, the last in the trilogy (maybe). Great film, though the fight scenes are just as jagged and difficult to follow as always. But it's always fun working out what's going on.

On Boxing Day, after my Tata Meg (long story about the name) went back home to Oxford, we watched The Terminal. I adored this film, especially since you didn't actually get the Hanks/Zeta Jones happy ending, but a happy ending nonetheless. Lots of good laughs, especially from the Gupta Rajan character, the slightly evil janitor (though only slightly, he's rather adorable).

Finally, after everyone else went to bed, me, my girlfriend and my brother all watched Galazy Quest. I hadn't seen this before, despite it having been out for ages, and was very glad to catch it. Some of the basic plot ideas are rather cliché, but it came together so well, and I always like a sullen Alan Rickman. Sigourney Weaver also looks brilliant and I'm never adverse to flashes of her cleavage. But for me, the star of the show was Tonay Shalhoub as the engineer, Fred Kwan. Just utterly hilarious, every scene with him in.

So, what films did you watch this Christmas, and what did you think of them?

Err... I watched myself play GHIII for 4 hours straight?

If it counts, I saw Juno a few days before. That was an excellent movie. Actually, I think I'll go start a thread about it. Or maybe not.

Well, we didn't watch anything as a family, but for awhile before dinner The Incredibles was on and a few of us were watching it while my grandmother marked it as a clear indication of the degredation of society. :p

On Christmas Eve we saw Cheaper By The Dozen, which is always kinda bleh...physical humor and slapstick comedy bores me to tears.
Yesterday however I saw Juno which is my new favorite movie, obviously from my sig, lol.
I plan to watch Sweeney Todd sometime this weekend and hopefully P.S. I Love You as well.
Love me some good ol' fashion sap.

I watched Extras yesterday.

But in the way of Christmas there wasn't really much on apart from a bunch of movies I've already seen. :/

Nothing on Christmas Day, but on Christmas Eve my brother forced me to watch A Millionaire's First Love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Millionaire's_First_Love). Korean people love their melodramas! It was pretty sad though. I cried. ;_;

The Nightmare Before Christmas on TV late in the evening, so I watched that.

Other than that, I watched a couple of episodes of a Doctor Who marathon on a different channel. (The entire 9th Doctor season back-to-back, yay!)

The only other thing I watched was the evening news, with a pause partway through to listen to the Queen's Christmas message on the radio. Not as good as her messages in earlier years; it felt like a cut-down rerun of last year's.

Almost had to watch Love Actually but managed to get out of that by conveniently pointing out to my Dad that Charlie Brooker's Christmas Screenwipe had finished downloading so we watched that instead. Otherwise I watched Extras and the frankly hilarious Christmas episodes of Coronation Street that everyone else happened to be watching.
