I was pulling out my slim PS2 so I could play it, and for the first time, I noticed that it had USB ports. What for?
Also, can I buy a graphics card and shove it into my laptop myself or is there a certain type of card I need to buy?

For USB keyboards and headsets and so on and so forth.

As for the laptop, I believe that there might be external graphics cards, relatively new to the market, that you could hook up through your PCI express slot. But you graphics card is likely integrated into the motherboard, and thus not replaceable. And even if it isn't, it wouldn't be as easy as shoving it in yourself.

Yeargh, so I have to suck up the fact that my graphics card has less than 128mb and not be able to play Neverwinter Nights 2?

I have a dance mat that hooks up through USB. :p

As for your laptop, it depends whether or not it can accommodate a full card. If it can (there is enough space in there), then you'd need to buy a specific laptop card. nVidia make the Go range and more recently the M range specifically for portable devices, for example.
