What do you pay to take the bus? How much do bus tickets/passes cost you?

My city (Hamilton, Ontario) recently raised our bus fare AGAIN from 2.25 to 2.40 (it was originally 2.10), but apparently we still have one of the cheapest bus fares in all of Ontario. I'm not sure if this is true.

As for bus tickets, I pay 1.55 for a student ticket, adult are 1.90 or something. A student pass in my area is about 60$, as for adult I don't know.

That's all well and good, but do you know what the bus costs in your city?

Same here, I don't get free trains though. Sucks to be a non-student.

I usually get a megarider for £9.50, which grants me unlimited bus rides for a week.

I wish my city offered these.

Yeah, but it's hard to walk to the next town over, or the mountain.

Argh, I got a bus pass from school for free right, that's a solo pass and can be used on all arriva buses till 8pm or something and I'VE LOST IT. Now I have to pay on the school bus (50p ;_; ) and pay if I want to go anywhere, it sucks ;__;

but it costs 75p, as I always say 'half'. I don't have to pay adult fare yet  If I'm getting alot of buses, I'll get an all day pass which is £1.80, I can get as many buses as I want within the north west area, it's great.

What is bus? I walk practically everywhere.

When I do catch the bus, it is a ridiculous £2.70 return (at most, it's a little less if you're not going far), but a Megarider weekly pass is a reasonable £8. Four return trips and it's paid for itself. :)

£7 odd for a return ticket to Taunton, I believe. That's about a half hour drive.

But I don't care. I've got a county bus pass for college and other things. :jokey:

London Buses are a joke price wise. I settle by getting an Oyster Card but its still pricey. £20 a week but I can use all means of transport. Huzzah!

Normal fare is about 2.75$ or 1.75$ (with student/elderly discount). A month pass to use all the buses and the metro (subway) on the island is 36$ for students and like 67$ (or something like that) for regular fares.

EDIT: Location: Montreal.

$2.25 for one zone. Same for the SkyTrain. I like that you can transfer your fare from one to the other. <3

All London Buses are 90p for whatever route on Oyster, which considering that Buses in my hometown are upwards of £5 return to the next town over is a revelation.

I'm in the Ottawa area and it costs $3. :p It costs a lot less if you use tickets though.

ugh, they raised the price by 25% now, so I'm boycotting it. unless it's raining or snowing outside or when it's very early in the morning, like tomorrow morning in example. I'm not very good at boycotting.

but when it's sunny and late I'm totally boycotting those motherfuckers.

I prefer trains which is about $1.80, it was $1.20 two years ago or something.

What sucks is that it costs the same to go somewhere eight stations away as it does to go somewhere thats just one station away

What a con. Arriva weekly passes up here cost £14. Though I suppose that is for the whole of Wales and possibly the North West though.

I don't pay because my father is a bus driver and so I have a free bus pass.

A day pass in Vancouver is $8, but it's three zones. A three zone ticket is $4.50 so it can be a good deal, depending on your plans.

Well...

The Milwaukee bus system is like 1.75$ each ride. I live in an outskirt town that has it's own metro soo~~~

1.75$ a ride, but I have a monthly bus pass that's 38$ a month. Basically I can ride all the buses in my towns bus system as many times as I want in the month written on my pass, then I can get a transfer to the milwaukee system for only 25cents.

It's really good and well funded. Most likely because most people here actually use the park & ride's to go to work instead of driving.

Town buses are free but I don't ride them anymore since I don't have to walk up the ridiculous hills from the dorm beyond. I just walk anywhere I want to go.

The buses that go around the Triangle (to Durham and Raleigh) are $2 to locations on the route. They used to do free transfers, but now they've eliminated that and make you pay $4 for a "regional day pass" if you want to transfer at the station. Ridiculous. I don't ride the bus anymore.

To get into Colchester (15-20 minute drive in a car) and back it costs £6.50-£6.75. It's fucking ridiculous. This is why I never use public transport in the south unless I have to because they rip you off massively.

last i knew it was like 1.20 a ticket.. but, this was student and it depended the duration of the ticket. this was like 1 hour or two.

You guys have free buses? Wow. That's awesome.

I pay £35 a month for unlimited travel on Lothian Buses, which stop within a minute or two of walking from pretty much anywhere I'd ever need to go in Edinburgh (http://www.lothianbuses.co.uk/routemap.shtml). The two bus routes from my flat to the city both stop by 4-5 times every hour around my flat on a weekday, and 2-4 times per hour during the weekend. The bus from the city to my work, however, stops by every 3-5 minutes on weekdays, which is pretty awesome. Up to 20 buses per hour in that direction!

For rides within the city limits it's 14 SEK which would be a little over £1. If I want to go see my parents (who live a little more than an hour away by car), I think the fare is 75 SEK, approximately £6.

Before 2007, I was young enough for the "half" tickets, which are 60% of the price. The buses were also slightly cheaper then, so I got away with 8 SEK (63p) and 45 SEK (£3.59).

As a high school student I get a free bus pass at the start of every year. But if I forget it or lose it, or decide to catch a bus somewhere outside of a school day, it's $1.40 AUD for an hour pass. For adult's I believe it's $2.60 for an hour pass.

Not bad.

I pay 685 NOK for an unlimited number of fares for one month. That's about 128 USD.

It depends on where I'm going, but when I used to go to school in the neighbour town I'd have to pay around 5 dollars, but that's also an adult ticket. It's a lot cheaper if you have a so-called "wildcard".

Polaris
01-16-2008, 06:00 PM
Hm it depends! Last time I got the bus it was 1€20 but probably now is 1€50 IF you buy the ticket on the bus (and it's just one trip so it'll end up being 1€50 since one place to another and others 1€50 to return from that place!)

However people buy large tickets outside the bus with 2 trips that cost 1€20!

My daily bus home is £1.85 for a child fare (because it's not a London bus), which I try and get cos the adult fare is double that and I'm supposed to pay that, but I can pass for 15.
Once I get to the edge of London the buses are free and I can travel to anywhere in the city for 50p (or £1 if I have to use the DLR on the other side of the city). Student Oyster card <3.

It costs between £1.80 and £2.20 for me to get the bus to work. I hate it. I also get the train after the bus. >_>

Overpriced England, I guess. Hoping to learn to drive, but that'll cost even more.
