"Sniper School Training & Halo 3 Tournament
>Sign-up Now!"

Those words were followed by a small picture of Master Chief holding a sniper rifle superimposed on an all-to-familiar background.

The ad, which I saw while poking around on facebook, was for the United States Army.

Does this make anyone else slightly uneasy?

Yesterday i talked with my roomie about the "war" and how he and other people in the armed forces feel about it, i think this is reflective of the greater problem rather than a singular bad turn of events.

Wow, that's some nice advertising. Though, really, wrong message to give out for joining the army, don't you think?

Maybe I can get a head-shot or two while serving in Iraq.

I hear the war your taking part in gets saved automatically, and you get to re-wind, fast forward and pause the war footage.

"No way, you seriously didn't get a head shot with that terrorist"

*Rewinds*

"OMG"

Edit: So many typos then. ;; *fixes*

"Remember kids, they aren't people, they're terrorists. Programmed, mindless killers who are out to get you - so killing them is no different to killing someone in a game."

I love how the people who are getting up in arms about this are the same people who claim that killing people in games doesn't desensitise you to murder.

I love how the people who are getting up in arms about this are the same people who claim that killing people in games doesn't desensitise you to murder.I'm well aware of the de-sensitizing effects of simulated violence, and it annoys me when game nuts complain that games are utterly harmless, and thus shouldn't be subject to any restriction or content review. However, this advertisement seems to be exploiting the idea of blurring the boundary between simulation and reality...

If anyone has a screenshot of the original ad, I'd like to see it.
