I recently stumbled upon a pretty interesting game for the Wii to be released titled Blast Works. Its slogan seems to be "Build, Trade, and Destroy", and its building mode is extremely extensive. The gameplay seems to be along the lines of a space-shooter. Here are some pictures.

It's scheduled for U.S. release in May, according to IGN. The build mode definitely seems like what most people are going to spend time on.
