Those who side with the reporter, I feel sorry for your childhood.

They both suck.

The guy is a tool. Oh look at me I am so wacky and out of control, how very unique of me.

The reporter is a patronising bitch trying to score cheap viewer popularity.

Ouch!

Quite honestly, I'm more frustrated with the reporter than I am with the guy. The reporter was completely overstepping her bounds. Her job is to report the damn news--not intervene and create it the way she did (this would have never reached the internet if she hadn't gone on demanding an apology like she did).

Why do I get the feeling half of what he said was just to piss her off?

Australia sounds so boring, they make news reports on parties. It's all about the sex, drugs, and murder here in America. :(

If the fellow had no part in the bashing of cars, then it's not his fault and he shouldn't HAVE to pay the fine, nor should his parents. The fine should be paid by the people who attended that party and did that. Evidently he's not a saint (he didn't obey his parent's wishes), but I don't think he deserves getting all that flak for something that really was out of his control. The people who did it are at fault, not him for starting the party that escalated out of control.

The reporter, however, was out of line, and openly trying to create a bad image of the fellow. At first she was... bearable, but near the end she got way out of hand. He DID apologize (didn't sound sincere, but he made the effort) and whether or not he's wearing sunglasses doesn't change that. She didn't need to try and force him into it. I also think he was in the right to not bash parties. This wasn't a case of a party-related problem, it was in a party's aftermath, which is quite different.

The kid is an arrogant idiot, and I think he wholly deserves to pay for all of the damages.

The reporter was also out of line, that wasn't an interview, it was a telling off.

The media coverage isn't going to do anything to make the kid realise the gravity of his actions. On the contrary, I think it's going to fuel his ego and make him do more stupid stuff like this.

Meh, I disagree, he's not too smart but he's not really arrogant. He seems that way, but not on purpose - except for his clothing style, anyway.

*nods* This I agree with. If he wasn't arrogant before, he may become so after this exposure. I think the reporter was stupid for thinking she could make him genuinely sorry for this - by the end he was definitely starting to enjoy aggravating her.

But I still stand by the fact that he didn't damage the cars, other partygoers did, and he stayed inside his house as asked by the policeman once they were on the scene. All in all, he did absolutely nothing wrong except not obeying his parents, but they shouldn't get too mad him as if his actions caused the car damage, because they didn't. That was after the party, done by his friends. He did apologize anyways, even though he didn't really mean it because he wasn't really at fault.

Yeah, I guess he shouldn't really have to pay for the stuff he didn't damage. I'd like to see it happen though. It would bring him down a few notches. :p

The news story here reported that he was being charged with producing child porn. Link (possibly not reputable).

Wait, he took pictures of Girls playing twister, and gets charged with Child Porn? WTF?

That article not only fails to state the girls age, but it didn't even sound like porn.

My god I hope that article is false.

Unless they give more details that is.

I truly doubt that an inconfident prick like that would ever do such a thing - possible, but unlikely. Generally it's not teenagers who attempt such a vile thing, though sometimes it is. I just don't think this guy is big-time enough to commit such a crime - besides the crazy parties and get-up, he may look like a bastard but that's all a forced image to cover his own actual lack of confidence and immaturity underneath all that. He doesn't seem like enough of an ass to actually seek to break the law, especially not through such a high offense.

Still, his apathy to most morals in general could possibly lead to such a thing, unlikely but possible. I don't really like to think that of the guy because I sort of felt sorry for him - not that he was getting in trouble or being charged with the fine, just that he had to feel that's the kind of guy he should be.
