View Full Version : The repeated shouts at Home...

One of the Big Mysteries of FF-X. When Home is under attack, there is an Al Bhed shouting something over and over again in the background, and I've been wondering for ages what it is he's actually saying.

There are FAQ's and forums that will tell me how the damage done to any fiend is calculated or how to win the game using only Yuna or Lulu - but nowhere have I seen an answer to this. (Except someone guessing it to be "I'm annoying, ya?" :p )

Nayto Du Ku! is what they shout, which in Al Bhed means "Ready to Go!"

That is Cid calling people to go to the airship before he destroys home.

It is? How did you know?

Renmiri speaks fluent al bhed.

It is the title of the movie on the FFX disk when you rip it. Not that I'd ever rip a game disk movie * whistles *

But even if that is the title, it doesn't necessarily mean that he's saying those words in that scene?

if you know a phrase, you're much more likely to be able to interpret vague shoutings in a movie scene.

Well, I can hear it exactly, but maybe my ears are crazy....

It might be. Thanks. :)

i always thought is was an evac order or an automated alert

same here, i always thaught it was an emergency announcement... i guess under the circumstances "ready to go" could be an emergency anouncement...

"Nayto Du Ku!" is definitely used at some point, by Cid I think, but it's not the message being repeated over the loudspeaker. That's a different phrase altogether, and is audible from the time the group first enters Home. It plays endlessly for the first several scenes.
I don't know what it is either, but it sure sounds like "I'm annoying, huh?" with an echo on the end of "huh".

yeah i could never tell but it is annoying as hell.

No, it doesn't really sound like "Nayto Du Ku!". Ah, well, gets it will remain one of life's mysteries...

Square Enix need to start putting that sound in at least one crowd scene in every game they make, turning it into their very own version of the Wilhelm Scream. That would rule.

I wonder what the Home voiceover said in the Japanese version...

This question bugged me, so I sat and listened to it for a good 20 minutes.

I hear,

"It's blowing up" with an echo on "up".

I don't know if it's right, but it's another phrase to add to the possibles.

It can be (thanks for listening to it for 20 minutes ;)), although I would've thought it was in Al Bhed?

If it is what I heard, it may have not been translated into Al Bhed when they made the American version.

I too, would assume that it would be in Al Bhed, but mistakes happen.

i love how renmiri is just like "oh, its this!" when everyone else is stumped! make a me laugh!

On topic, it is possible that it says nothing, just a sound in the backround adding to the cacophoy. just a thought

No way, I have that shout imprinted into my brain because it's repeated so much and was so annoying... Definetly wasn't that.

Had at least 5 syllables, the last 2 were seperate words.

I would say four syllables.
