Hm, one of the NASA guys came over onto Mars and created a fake rock? That's interesting.

If it wasn't man-made, then it can't be a rock. If it was a rock, it'd look exactly like the other rocks around itself.

No my point is, if you didn't say "life on mars" I woulda never thought that was a alien. But anyway, where did you get this? I could put a alien looking thing on the ground in the dessert take a picture and do that too ;p

Just a natural formation of rocks or some such. It's simply the brain looking at it and making a common thing into something more, much like the rock they found that looks like a face.

Besides we've been studying Mars for all this years, if there was life on there, it's most definitely not Jawas, it'd be something much simpler and harder to find with the naked eye/telescopes/satellites.

Good one.

On the serious side of what I really think about this, Bahamut2000X just said it all for me.

More than likely to just be a rock. Sure, a deformed rock, but that can easily be due to climate change. There has been evidence that Mars was once like the Earth. Climate changes from long ago could have caused its unique formation.

Edit: It looks kind of like a guy in a cloak, though. And some of the rocks look like they fold over one another. Perhaps a material is there that could create the idea of a person, but is also the same shape as a rock?

Edit 2: What the hell? The second picture has loads of things that just look like gray piles of pants, and a kitchen floor.

Anyway, the image itself is, of course, yet another example of pareidolia, our ability to see patterns in random shapes. That does look like a guy hanging out on Mars, enjoying the 0.01 Earth atmospheric pressure, the 98% CO2 air, the subfreezing cold, and of course, just being four inches tall. Martians are pretty short, it seems. And patient, given its pose.

Looks a lot like the star of that famous hoax Bigfoot film - just someone having some tongue-in-cheek photoshop fun, I'd assume.

Besides, it's The Sun.
To say "there's life on Mars, The Sun proved it!" is like saying "all brown people are evil terrorists, Fox News proved it!"

The only source mentioned in that article is 'an amateur astronomer'. It claims it's a four-year-old photo; no-one, anywhere else, has noted this aspect of the image before.

Reputable science says that Mars is most likely to be devoid of life, but that it might well have carried life at some time in the past. Hence, I doubt that there's anything alive on the planet, but few things would be cooler than the discovery of fossils or other proof of previous life.

There's people who think the nazi's retreated to the hollow center of the Earth and conquered the subterranean people.

I'm sure there's some quacks out there who think an entire civilization has been hidden under a lifeless planet's surface.

Wasn't it that they found traces of water under the surface of Mars. And didn't that lead to people finding something on the surface that was similar to Canals?...or tracks left by the worms from Dune.

Wasn't it that they found traces of water under the surface of Mars. And didn't that lead to people finding something on the surface that was similar to Canals?...or tracks left by the worms from Dune.If I remember right, there are small amounts of ice at places on Mars. It actually has polar ice caps, too, but they're dry ice - solid carbon dioxide, not water ice.

The 'canals' were long, straight lines that appeared to crisscross the planet's surface, but those were actually an optical illusion caused by older types of telescope.

I was reading the article and when "big foot" was mentioned, it all made sense. Big Foot came from mars and goes back there every now and again to say hello to his friends and family there, and possibly hurl mars rocks.

Flying Mullet
01-24-2008, 06:01 PM
And I heard that Bigfoot has to travel back to Mars to replenish his invisibility powers so that he can hide from amateur photographers on Earth and when we catch him in photos he is leaving for Mars.

This picture must be after he just arrived.

Bahamut2000X

It's a rock.

Though there's already a lengthy discussion going on about this exact thing ('http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-chat/114093-theres-life-mars.html). Though we only had The Sun as a reference. Nice to see other news people are distorting what's quite clearly a rock though.

Raebus
01-24-2008, 06:05 PM
Thats why life hasn't been found on mars, all the creatures from mars have invisibility powers which prevents people from finding them or taking pictures. That power can only be used on Mars because it doesn't last forever and has to be recharged. Big Foot is the exception because his hair makes him special, so he gets to go to earth.

Shading, different level of rock, it could just be some other kind of rock. There's a plethora of reasons.

Regardless it's not a living thing. The notion of a living being, on Mars in it's condition today, that is THAT advanced and human like in appearance, is completely poppycock.

It's called matrixing. It's when your mind finds familiar shapes from garbage essentially. Besides Mars as it is couldn't support life like that. Bacteria? Sure. Small critters the size of bugs. Maybe. A frickin' jawa shaped human? No way in hell. Mars just can't support life at that magnitude.
