I can actually beat Red or Blue and still enjoy almost all of it. I can't say the same for Diamond and Pearl.

I like the new graphics and some of the system upgrades in the later ones. However most of the newer pokemon after the second generation look just ridiculous.

Gold/Silver was always my favourite installment, it improved upon Red/Blue and then it got stale with Ruby/Sapphire. I haven't played Diamond or Pearl.

Silver/Gold was the peak of Pokemon. Everything about that game was just good. R/S/E missed out too much, and alot of the Pokemon sucked. D/P are good but I never fully get into them, like I thought I would.

Gardevoir is my favorite, by far. I liked the entire 3rd series the most overall. The Gold/Silver/Crystal Pokémon were pretty cool too.

However, the original game had the best storyline, and it was definitely an epic game when I was much younger. That, and it was actually difficult at times. They made every version afterwards slightly more easy and it kills me inside when I can beat the game in a day or two due to the sheer simplicity. The RSE series was a joke, because of that.

Blue is my favourite, though if I had of played something like Pearl and Diamond back then, it would have seriously topped the original games.

The new ones are pretty good, but I feel I am too old for the Pokemon crap.

I think I probably enjoyed playing Silver the most at the time. Though I certainly think that each game has been an improvement on the last. I think there are too many Pokemon though. I honestly can't see me completing my Pokedex on Diamond.
