View Full Version : 2 Year Unbanning

So you know how you can ask to be unbanned after 2 years of being banned if all of the staff approve of your return? How hard do you think it is to get the whole staff's approval?

Ouch!
01-29-2008, 12:53 AM
I suppose that depends on whether or not you ticked off certain staff members and whether or not they're still staff.

People who were a constant problem and aggravation to us are pretty much guaranteed to not get back in. Accidental porn posters have a reasonable chance. If a staffer happens to observe someone at another forum posting fairly well, that helps their chances.

I think it'd depend on what you did.

I doubt they'd let a person back who went "lol porn" all over the place.

Maybe the people who had two accounts would have a chance.

@Voidy: People "accidently" put porn up? xD

i never understood what cookies are. when people ban me, i just make another account and act totally different so they dont know its me. after a while, when i feel safe, i start to slowly act normal again. lol.

That doesn't work in actual good places, because of a thing called IP ADDRESS (Gasp)

Doesn't Dial up change the IP somewhat though? Granted most people don't use dial up, but still.

Plus the places Neo went to, might not really have cared as much as they do here.

From what I understand an outgoing IP Address is very hard to change. Now I'm not a Computer Wiz, so I'm sure someone here will come and tell me I'm wrong and provide a way.

To be honest, I think the two years are a test. If you can quiet down, calm down, not annoy the staff with second accounts, and request an appeal two years later, then I think the staff will see you are sincere on your desire to return.

The IP address could give you away if you have a static IP address. However, you could be legitimately sharing an IP with another person, like if you post from the same school or something like that.

Depending on your ISP, you could be having a dynamic IP, which means you get a randomly assigned IP address each time you connect to the internet. It's common for dial up connections, but it can be done for DSL or cable connections too.

Dude I was about to click on #eoff and ask you. xD

That's true, I mean me and my bf share the same network so we would essentially have the same IP, so by that note, it'd look like he was a second account, when in all reality he's just on another computer! :D

It depends on how much of a jerk you were and how much of your jerkiness could be attributed to age or situation. If a 14 year old busts up in here with bullcrap and gets banned but shows back up as an awesome, thoughtful, rule-abiding 16 year old we're more likely to let them back.

I guess older members have a worse chance of making it back then...

I really hope that staff members don't ban members like that thinking they're second accounts. It'd really suck and be unfair to those members (especially for siblings and couples).

I think if there was a difference in our IP it'd be due to the fact I'm on a wireless laptop and he's on a desktop, but in cases like Mirage says with school wide things, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure that wireless assigns another IP, so the only time it'd be the same is if I plugged my computer in with an ethernet cord through the router and made them BOTH lan connected.

Internally in your house's network, you'll all have a different IP, but this is an internal IP, just for the computers in your house to be able to communicate. Your entire home network is identified on the internet with a single IP address, that will be the same for every user on the home network.

We drugged Yams with Prozac.

Also, with regards to second accounts we have other ways besides IP addresses to tell what is and isn't a second account.

Yamaneko could provide us with the cure for cancer or advise us of how he actually is a terrorist plotting to destroy [something] in the staff forum and we'd probably just laugh and say "Oh, that Yams!" and assume it was just him pulling his usual antics.

As for what you need to do in order to get the okay - I would hope that it's kind of obvious, really. I mean, you guys can probably guess which of the banned members we'd let back in and be right on at least 95% of the occasions, if not 100%.

I once tried that. It lasted for about 8 different pages, then I got this screen saying I was using some kind of ware or something like that and to try the site again without it.

Now I'm sure there's stuff that can get around it, but NT never mentioned using it :p

So then I would simply become a zombie and rise again as multiple accounts.
