That much??? I didnīt tried it. I just attacked with Ramza (Two swords), Beowulf (Attack), Agrias, Orlandu (Lightining Stab and Holy Explosion) and Worker 8 and he couldnīt handle it hehe

Well, most of the time, I use Chicken. Now that's broken. =)

And about the damage, did you check your White Mage's Zodiac Sign? Maybe it didn't had a lot of afinity with Altima's.

There are many factors that have a lot of influence in the outcome. If you post Beowuld's stats, equipment, I could tell you why.

Beowulf:
Bravery: 46
Faith: 66
Move: 5
Jump: 4
Speed: 10
Physical Attack: 14
Magical Attack: 12

Equipment: Runeblade/All crystal/Germinas Boots

Nothing else that would effect it

I did good damage, I donīt remember how much but I Know I did. I donīt have a White Mage. My Beowulfīs equipment is Rune Blade/the best helmet, armor and shield I can buy (I donīt remember the name) and Bracer.

Beowulf's Drain damage formula:

(Target_MaxHP * 25/100) HP

You dealt a lot of damage to Altima because she has a lot of hp. =)

Yep, Drain (and Oracles Life Drain) do not work off MA but merely a % of enemies health. So on anything 700+ HP it does decent dmg, and on bosses with several thousand hp, it rocks their world similar to an attack from Orlandu

This is due to the damage equation used in the Life Drain and Drain spells.

I have pasted an excerpt from the Final Fantasy Tactics (PS) Battle Mechanics Guide from GameFAQs:

Life Drain

Drain RU{T_MaxHP * 25/100} HP.

The amount of damage is unaffected by Zodiac and other modifiers. If the target is Undead, the target will gain this amount of HP and the caster will lose this amount of HP, regardless of whether the caster is Undead.

Success% = [CFa/100 * TFa/100 * (MA + 160)]

Drain

Drain RU{Target_MaxHP * 25/100} HP

The amount of damage is unaffected by Zodiac and other modifiers. Success% = [CFa/100 * TFa/100 * (MA + 200)] Caster must be equipped with a Sword or Knight Sword in order to use Drain.

That is still super broken for bosses...

And Cloud's Climahazard isn't? The fact of the mater is console RPGs in general aren't usually incredibly balanced.

(Climahazard does damage equal to the amount of damage a target has taken)

Cloud's Climhazzard isnt instantaneous...Drain is

I agree that they are unbalanced, heck I even made another thread about that, but some are worth pointing out IMO
