Anime News Network Article (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-12-08/japanese-anime-studios-confirmed-for-batman-video)

Short version: Upcoming movie The Dark Knight gets its own Animatrix treatment. Rumour has it that Satoshi Kon (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=1161) (Perfect Blue, Paranoia Agent) will be helping out on one of the 6 short films as well.

The 6 of them will be standalone stories, but are 'compatible' with both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

I was already moderately excited for the movie, but as a huge fan of anime (and particularly 2/3 of the Japanese studios involved) it makes the thing so much sweeter. Check out the video preview! Amidst all the old men talking about it, there are clips of the various animated features scattered throughout.

I think the quality of Batman: Gotham Knight is kind of iffy because Bruce Timm is directing it and I wasn't completely satisfied with Timm's last DTV Superman: Doomsday.

DTVDTV? Now that's a new one to me. What's it mean?

Aww, they removed it because of copyrights. Compared to all the full series of anime on YouTube, which is fine.

I read about this on imdb a while back and I've been pumped for it since. I really, really, can't wait. I'm what we like to call "Batman's ho."

Hmm.. I think DTV might mean direct-to-video? Not for certain, though! =o

You can still find it if you do a search.

My internet is being too much of a :skull::skull::skull::skull: to let me watch it, but I am nonetheless excited.

Yeah DTV is short for direct-to-video Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was originally a direct-to-video animated film but at the last minute it was released in theaters and naturally due to the lack of advertising it was a box office flop. Many DC animated short films have been made since Mask of the Phantasm but they're all DTVs.

Looks rather awesome, imo.

Looks good, although I am a tad wary as I am a Timm fan. Will be interesting to see how the six stories go together.

I just watched it on DVD(brother works for a video store) and the first story is pretty crappy but is kind of neat from a concept point of view. It is a bunch of kids telling stories of Batman and of course they are totally inaccurate.

The other stories actually fit together in a roundabout sort of way.

DVD quality is complete <img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /> though. I would recommend against buying this and just renting it as the quality is pretty crappy. They didn't even try on the compression. Probably because they want you to go buy the blu-ray version. Crappy quality is noticeable most on the second story.

I watched it and thought it was pretty good. Nothing mind blowing, but I'm glad I devoted time to it. Some badass Batman moments to be had.

I also thought the first story was the weakest :jess: It was just... okay.
