I had the hardest time with spear break until I came across this program.Final Fantasy X-2 Ultimate Sphere Break FAQ - IGN FAQs (http://uk.faqs.ign.com/articles/542/542518p1.html)
Inside this guide you'll find some links to copy and paste to your address bar. The middle one is the best as it's designed for 3 coin combos. Which is ideal I found putting it in practice. The author came to the same conclusion I did. Anyway, with this program on your computer it makes that evil Shinra so much easier. It tells you the best moves to make. I did it in 1 attempt. With turns to spare. This may already have been posted on this site, but I havn't seen it. So I'll give it its own tread and hopefully it will come in searches for people looking for help with spear break. Thank the author.

Hahaha...I used a cheating device once, and the cutscene that plays after defeating Shinra looped over and over!

It's not a cheat. It's a tool that tells you what moves to make. Nothing is altered to the game code. It's a simple program that runs on your computer. And you put in all the coin values that appear in the background before you start each turn. for each and every turn. So it's kind of annoying in that respect. But it solves the math for you, so you can do it in time. Anyone could be beat sphere break if we had unlimited time for each turn, but we don't. Computers can do the math much faster than us. Obviously your pc needs to be by your ps2 though for this to work so you can run back and forth between the 2. Or have a pocket pc.

Or you could just, you know, do the basic arithmetic and figure out the moves with your brain.

Not all of us can do basic math very well or in my case very fast. In fact, I forgot how to do polynomials and most fractions. I'd be screwed in my calculus class without a calculator. Some professors don't let you use them. Not mine though.

It took me awhile to get the gist of it.
I do think this is a very good tool for beginners :D to learn what the very long and tedious tutorial shows alot quicker.

Problem there is I didn't want to play sphere break to begin with, and didn't want to learn it. Just wanted the lady luck dress sphere and get back to dungeons. And many are like me. I used this program played that stupid tournament, and never touched this mini game again. That's all the Sphere Break I played. And have no interest to get into it. So that's why I like it. Saves me. I can't be bothered by Sphear Break.
