A'yo, I actually have a topic related to FF people...:rolleyes2...Alright, I'm sitting here playing FF1 on PSP and my aunt walks up to me after I finished a battle and noticed the character waving their hands in the air. She asked, "What the hell are they doing?" and I looked and said, "Their...umm...doing the wave..."

I also remember a time long ago where my mother's boyfriend watched me playing FFX and he saw me summon Shiva. He was like, "That's one fine ass monster..." I had nothing to say. He was right. Unfortunately, I was fighting Anima and he killed her with his overdrive. He then said, "Damn, that bitch got her ass handed to her..."again, I had nothing to say...:rolleyes2

So, what's the funniest or weirdest thing you had to explain about any FF game to a person who had no knowledge whatsoever about FF?

When I first got my PS2, the only game I had with it was FFX. Sadly, my TV decided to break; so I had to rely on playing it downstairs in the living room with my parents watching. (Which is pretty off putting since they tried to be helpful by pointing out the obvious.)

A few of the awkward things to explain was the scene were Tidus is on the boat to Kilika, and looks through a telescope. He lingers on a certain part of Lulu for a few seconds (and then I had to explain that it wasn't me lingering on Lulu, but part of the scene).

Another awkward moment was when my mother walked in on the infamous laughing scene between Tidus and Yuna in Luca. "Why are they laughing like that?" I couldn't answer.

My grandmother has a habit of popping in my room for only two seconds at a time when the game is loading. She actually thought I was going insane because she only saw me looking at a black screen when I came in xD

...there was also this time I had the FFVII menu up with just Cloud, and she said, "Oh, that's a pretty girl."
I then explained that Cloud is a guy.

I can't imagine explaining the Honey Bee Inn part to someone

Oh man the infmous "I'm Captain Basch!" minigame with people in the next room... i didn't feel like explaining

Cloud doing some kind of limit break "Wow, that's a bad chick" - my uncle

any rpg people ask - "why's he always running?"... 20 minutes later - "he's still running!".

Once I was playing FF7 in the middle of the part where Cloud has to win the Chocobo race to get everyone out of the prison, and my dad walked in. I forgot what he said exactly, but he was generally confused and kind of freaked out. I said something like, "it's a long story..." and was all ready to explain the whole idea behind chocobos, but then he said, "I don't want to know." I don't really blame him - the part he saw was really acid trippy :exdee:

Yuna giving Leblanc a massage was an interesting experience to explain.

Actually, all of X-2.

My mom thought X was a movie when she came in during the spring scene, and she wouldn't believe it was a game until I showed her the game case.

Indeed. Seymour's mother.
Worst thing I was playing FF7, and I had got up to the part where...that happens in the ancient city. My mother (Who is a gaming retard, sorry!) walks in and suddenly shouts "WHY IS THEIR NO BLOOD!!!!"

another...funnier one.
Me: *Playing FFXII* I'M CAPTAIN BASCH!!!!(I was sugar high from skittles...)
Brother(25, lol): STFU!!!!
Me: YOU STFU!!!!
Brother: STFU!!!!

It went on like this until he went out to the pub...by this time, sugar crash...

Me: I need to get a life.

My friend brought in his FFIX strategy guide to science class once (or I was letting him borrow mine, I forget) and our science teacher took it away from us. Then he looked at the cover, and was like "wow, she's really cute" and pointed at Zidane. And then the class lol'd because he obviously wasn't used to seeing highly iffemainte male Japanese art.

My dad watched me play Final Fantasy VIII one time, he came into my room with my laundry, and I was at the bit where Edea is making her speech. He said, reading the screen: "'Lowlifes. Shameless filthy wretches'... This is boring..." and walked out.

How right he was! :rolleyes2

my dad refers to Kimarhi as the Lopper and Auron as the Denogginator, after the serial killer from seinfeld. Tidus is Pants and Squall is Pseudo-Pants, because of the intricate similarities and still differences between the games.

That is very true. I think I've given up describing what I'm playing to whoever's watching and has no idea what's going on.

why do you keep walking in circles?

Well the enemy here drops this rare item, that I need for this quest, to get this even more rare item, which will be used in making this amazing weapon, that I then sacrifice to get an even more powerful weapon, that I don't even need to beat the game.

ok, so why are you walking in circles?

It was so weird, just the other day when I was chocobo racing in FF7, my dad came into the room and was like, "Chocobos!!" It was strange. Dad has never even heard of chocobos or played FF before.

The best thing was when I was baby sitting my little cusion and she walks in and a random encounter started (It was VII or IX) and she was like, "Oh noez I broked it!" and I had to say "I ran into an invisible monster...I mean three."

My mother, while I'm playing FFVIII: "What is the girl in the bright yellow dress doing with a giant nunchaku?"

Why, mom, she's just taking an innocent stroll in the park with it so she can play fetch with doggies she encounters. Why else would Selphie do with a giant nunchaku?

I was playing the early stages of FFX last Summer and one of my brothers turns around, and despite watching his friends play FF 24/7 - he glared at the screen with a curious expression as I had Yuna summon Ifrit.
"...did that girl just turn into that?!"
I pointed out Yuna on his shoulder but he already turned around to continuing browsing some torrent site.
At least he was taking an interest for at least a nanosecond?

And my dad has learnt that he should ask me the gender of whoever's on screen before he says anything, due to past experience.
Though is it really necessary to ask if it's a girl at the beginning of FFX-2?!
Sure, it was actually someone disguised as Yuna - and even then, LeBlanc's female. Not as if my dad would think so deeply :D

Worst thing to explain ever...we had to bring in a sample of Art for school, so i decided to cut up (BLASPHAMY!!!) one of my old guides which was now useless. As i walked into Art and put it on the table, my dear friend had the balls to shout out.
"WHY THE **** DID YOU BRING IN A FRIEKEN TURKEY!!!" Put it this way, for 60 minutes, me and 2 friends were trying to explain chocobos to the class. i did get full marks though, for imaginitive thinking and explaining the style of it well...

Working a summer job with my dad's company, I was force to play FFX in front of him since we only had one tv. So I finally beat the game and I'm all into the emotion, the music, and everything and then came

"You're gonna cry. You always cry. Look, you're crying."

To this day, my dad still quotes this back to me whenever i complain about something. Damn you Jecht, and your repetitive anecdotes.

i have a friend who's really into shooting games, and kindof against RPGs. so once my friend brought ff1 on his psp to school and we kinda took turns to playit. sooner or later my first friend would want to play and start complaining that it's so gay, etc. then once he asked: "why don't they have to walk to the enemy to attack them? they just step forward a bit!"

When I was playing FF7 for the first time, my dad walked in when they were in the train after the first bombing mission. He was like 'Why are they in a train?' Then he came in when I was going for the second bombing and he was like 'A train again? Looks like a boring game...' Several years later I'm playing FF8 and my dad walks in during the president kidnapping mission and he said 'Trains again? What is it with the Japanese and trains?' And then he walked into the room when I was starting to play Persona 3. In the opening sequence the main hero is riding a train for a minute or so... You can imagine my father's reaction :eep: It's good that he didn't see Selphie saying 'I like trains!' and 'Trains, trains, trains, lalala!' - I would die!

I recall having to explain the Lv. 4 Suicide spell from Final Fantasy VII to my mother. I think that was extremely out-of-character for her to notice and ask about it, and I wonder if she had the wrong idea completely or if she was curious about it.

I was playing FFXII at my grandparent's house, and my grandfather asks me, "So what do you do?"
I was just kind of like "Wha?"
"What's the object of the game here? The goal?"
"Oh...um...well...I don't know yet...you see it has a story...and I'm not that far into it yet...Maybe I ought to read the back of the box."

Probably the third best Law that doesn't relate to Science after Sod's Law and Godwin's Law.

Generally not had anything like that in-game, though I do know a friend of mine's dad thought that FFVII was a game wholly about snowboarding.

Once i was playing FFVIII at my houses and his wifes sister came in while I was fighting Jumbo Cactuar. She then asked me whos that karate man and why is he green. Knowing that all of my family members are from Africa and wouldn't understand me I just said that is a poisoned person who was turned into a demon. She actually bought the idea though. Also one my Aunts always got scared everytime she saw a snake or that one creaturn with a snake tail in FFX.
