False advertising! Thing is more of a cow or giant bug then a dog. >.>

Never mind the false advertising. Its a leap forward technology wise and all they'd have to do now is to fit a gun onto it to shoot down the people who made those retarded comments on youtube.

It looks and buzzes like a giant 4 legged bee. :p

Very impressive technology though !

It's like a baby horse, fresh from it's mother's womb. It struggles greatly to walk, slipping and sliding everywhere, but one day it will become a graceful and majestic creature.

Wow. That's a really amazing (and completely terrifying) demonstration.

Pssh have none of you seen the Empire Strikes Back? A few radio controlled planes and some cable should sort this thing out.

"Prophet" is probably right, he's enough of a screwball.

A neat bit of progress on the 'walking robots' front... nice to see something that can cope with uneven terrain. It coped remarkably well with that 'being kicked by a punkass' test. Its reaction to ice reminded me of how real animals cope in the same circumstances, same goes for its jumping gait during the indoors test.

Hideo Kojima didn't exactly invent the 'walking robot' idea, so he shouldn't get too much credit in my opinion. If they ever develop this technology into a giant armoured bipedal tank, then there'd be more of a valid comparison.

Good to know that progress is marching on, and the idea of walking robots hasn't been dismissed as impractical or impracticable. Once it's perfected and becomes widespread, it could set the standard for all-terrain non-wheeled transport until the advent of some kind of levitation.

I saw this a while ago. It's a pretty impressive robot. Now we just need one that can compute usage of hands to pick things up.

The design has been around since 2005, but it's ability to compensate for changes in equilibrium is something altogether new. The old videos do not show what it can do now.

Couldn't they have made it prettier? That thing looks like the kind of monster that haunts people's dreams. >_>

I do think it's cute, but I also think I'd pee if I woke up at night and found it standing next to my bed.

That truly was amazing, I'd love to see it's development more sure they're looking at this as some kind of weapon (defence agency) but perhaps it could be used to replace skittish horses in crowd control by riot police some day...thinking vampire hunter D here. The movements of the robots recovery and the jump are probably more similar to a gazelle than a foal though but it's amazing still no matter what animal we think it reacts like.
