Microsoft sends care package to erased 360 owner - Xbox 360 Fanboy (http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/03/21/microsoft-sends-swag-to-erased-360-owner/1#c11157984)

Kudos to him for not acting like free stuff changes the fact that Microsoft Customer "support" does a really :skull::skull::skull::skull:ty job.

That was a pretty noble compensation, though.

Sure, but it was a PR stunt. A way to get people to think they're not as awful as they actually are. One guy getting compensated for his problem doesn't erase the fact that they hire inferior workers overseas and pay them five dollars an hour and fake customer satisfaction surveys to justify it.

Random people in the Philippines aren't going to have the same english language skills as people from North America. The people they hire have a set script they follow and prepared answers for standard questions but they get muddled and confused whenever they're asked something they don't have written down on their list.

Do you think the console case was really erased, or that some Microsoft employee has faked faded marker signs and sold it?

Yeah, well, I'll stop bitching when people start making it damned clear that it's based on language, not on race/nationality, before they get called out on it.

Aicha is my favourite person on the world so stfu plz. Actually, a lot of the best Canadians working at customer support were first generation Canadians from Philippino families. xP

@ Koshiatar: I think that might be a bit of a stretch. It was a pretty big story, posted on Joystiq and Kotaku and the like. If the Xbox was on eBay, someone probably would have spoken up. I'd also bet that the owner knew the Xbox well enough to be able to tell the difference if the faded marker didn't match up.
