What are your favourite "classic games". By classic games i mean pre-N64/playstation, also what do you class as a classic game?

Discuss.

So would you consider Shaq-Fu a classic then?

its old enough to be a classic game, by classic i meant age and not classic as in "rad"

N.B i have and never will use "rad" as a good thing

Well, in my opinion, classic games are games that were made a long time ago that are still popular today.

However, according to your definition (pre-N64), I would have to say Kid Icarus, Super Mario Bros., Tetris, EarthBound, etc.

X-Com. Civilization II. DooM. Command & Conquer. TIE Fighter. SimCity 2000. Every pre-Saturn Sonic.

Shaq Fu is the greatest fighting game of all time and probably the greatest game ever made. Yeah, I said it.

Come on now, the N64 is over 10 years old, as well as the Playstation. I'm sure they have classics! Not to mention the Sega Saturn.

Ah, well.

NES -

The 3 SMB games. They aged very well, especially the third game.

Kirby's Adventure is a very polished game, and it pushed the NES to its limits and traveled into the future onto my Wii.

Duck Hunt was very good, too. A fun arcade-ish title, which made killing ducks so innocent.

Also, the first and third castlevania games are both games I enjoyed greatly.

Let's not forget the Final Fantasies, now!

Oh, right, and the TMNT games, too. Except the first one... It sucked.

SNES -

Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island are both very fun games that I like lots.

RPGs of all sorts! Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasies, Breath of Fire, and Super Mario RPG.

Castlevania 4 is also really great.

And of course, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Metroid are awesomesauce.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters was awesome.

Sega Genesis -

The 3 Sonic Games, plus Knuckles, naturally.

Phantasy Star 2, while not a game I've beaten, was very fun for the time I played it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters was a decent fighter here. Also, the Samurai Showdown on the Sega Genesis was infinitely superior to its SNES counterpart.

Sega CD -

Snatcher is the only game for the Sega CD I've played and beaten. It was worth it!

NEO-GEO

All Metal Slug games that came out before the N64 and Playstation, if they did.

All King of Fighters games that came out before the N64 and Playstation, I.E., '94, '95, and '96.

I really hope Last Blade 2 came out before the N64, because it needs to be listed!

Real Bout: Fatal Fury Special is awesomesauce, too...

Blue's Journey was a fun game. Too bad I only played it on an emulator like the ass I am! :D

I really wish I knew when any of these games came out.

There's mah listz!

To me, a good game pretty much enters "classic status" once it's aged ten years and it's actually still good. As such, the PS1 and SAT are chock-full of delicious classics, and naturally so are consoles far older than they.

That said, I'm a Lunar fiend. If there's just one gaming experience I want my children to go through, it's both Lunar games.

Lunar=my childhood.
