Ok, just wondering for the sake of conversation, do you believe that the US really landed on the moon or do you truly believe in was a conspiracy and a lie to just try to outdue Russia?

No, they did.

yeah i believe we did.

I believe they did. There has been a lot of discussion and "proof" tossed around by both sides, but after weighing it all, I think we landed on the moon.

considering with a high enough powered telescope people have actually seen the flag on the moon... yeah

I remember seeing a thread like this on EoEo, with a really great link that humiliated the conspiracy theories. I wonder where it went...

Really, I didn't know that. Do you know where/if the pictures could be found?

naw not offhand, but I remember reading an article about it a few years ago. Of course, the moon has to be turned the right way and everything, with ample light. So it had to be a certain time etc to be able to see it.

I don't know. I want to believe that we landed on the moon, but its hard not to notice what proof has been shown to rebut the idea of man on the moon.

Damn, I said no.

If I said no the government will call me a communist.

Yeah, I thought the way a telescope gathers light prevents us from seeing the flag on the moon. It's one of the common conspiracy theory "proofs". They say you can't see the flag with a telescope, therefor we didn't land. The rebuttal is that telescopes gather light and the flag ends up "bleached out" of the image. Most people think that a telescope acts like a giant magnifying glass, which isn't really true.

All I know is that Wallace and Gromit went to the moon. :jess:

That'd be me, posting here: http://forums.eyesonff.com/eyes-each-other/113681-universe-ufo.html#post2396477

There is no credible evidence which calls the landing of Humans on the moon into question. We went. That's as factual as Roosevelt being President of the US.

that's why they have to calculate it so that there's a certain light spread on the moon and such. I don't remember the details, there was a lot of math involved and there was only like a 3 hour window or something where it could be seen.

It seemed pretty valid to me when I read it

It would actually be pretty neat if we could see it. Well, afford something that powerful anyway.

Also, faking one moon landing, maybe. Why'd they fake five more?

Yes, they landed on the moon. The fact that some people are so paranoid they've convinced themselves otherwise bugs me.

It wasn't staged. Those weren't actors. That wasn't a boom mic, it was an alien. Etc.

The moon landings were as much a conspiracy as 9/11.

Even if they didnt, who cares? They did by now. They've got an entire spacestation up there now.. arent you gonna speculate that it might be made of cardboard? xD

Why do you think people are so adamant about cardboard recycling lately?

Quindiana Jones
04-03-2008, 11:04 PM
A cardboard spacestation is a ridiculous idea. At least the "staging" of the moon landing was mildly believable.

I took that point waaaay too seriously.

I dont think we landed when we said we were the first but I guarentee we have now, and someone could have put the flag up anytime they were sent up.

'you didn't come back with 200 pounds of moon rocks, that's why the orbit isn't decaying properly'
'are we going to die?'
'no but only if you move EVERY SINGLE BIT OF MASS to an absolutely specific portion of the craft you can make it with the last bit of KEROSENE'

just kidding, they only used kerosene lifting up from the ground, i think it was like N2 or something once up in orbit xD

Yes.

No, they landed. You can use a telescope and see the lunar lander on the Moon for goodness sake.

No we haven't landed on the moon, they discovered the moon lions and were afraid of landing else they would get eaten. DURRR.

This. I'm not sure if they did it the first time around, but they've done it since.

I think they did it first time and we have landed on the moon subsequently. Despite the 'evidence' otherwise.

They almost did, but then they realised that the moon was indeed made of cheese and one of their astronauts was lactose intolerent so... off to the filming studio!

...what do you mean by "people with lactose intolerence can eat cheese"? :(

I blame Fox for the popularization of the theories that the US didn't. Including the half-assed "evidence" that people throw around in spite of barely understanding the deep physics and mechanics behind it all.

Best thing you've said in a while, my friend.

:cookie:

But for serious? Yes, they did land on the moon. I'm prepared to believe that perhaps the television broadcast was filmed after the fact (flag flapping etc...) but really, I don't think it should be this much of a big deal at this point. They've certainly landed and produced some valuable information about our friend the moon since.
