Hey folks, since I guess lots of artists (or those who aspire to be) visit this forum, I wanted to set out an invitation to a LiveJournal community which I help run.
It's a weekly art challenge comm called "Cockeyed_art" and the goal is to make at least one or more Final Fantasy fanart sketch per week. Characters are assigned by the community moderators, and critique is not sought for unless asked for. Occassionally "discussion" posts also take place in which questions, techniques or tips are shared among users. Also we have "bonus" weeks from time to time where the assignment is something special besides just "sketch a character."
The point of the community is basically to improve your artistic skills. For some people (like me) it's an excuse we use to force ourselves to do tablet drawings on a semi-regular basis. Either way it's not a competition, but more of a friendly "practice" community where everyone is welcome.
Plus seeing bonus fanart of Final Fantasy characters every week is a benefit. ;-)
